You Got No Right Lyrics
I fell through the ice
She won't be coming back again
It never wins to lie
She said you'll never have no rights
I've took it farther on the outside
I've took it nearly to the brink
And if you've seen me on the outside
You would have barely seen me breathe
Funny right here I find myself
Inside a paper cup
Without a warning or a reason it's a treason
With no answer
You got no right
To keep me waiting here
You got no right
To keep the pain in here
That holds the crown
And if I fall apart on the outside
(You really don't believe me)
And if I take it to the brink
And if I fall apart on the outside
(You really don't believe me)
You would have barely seen me breathe
And if I meet you out tonight
Will you be loving me forever
It's always over after the night
It's always colder after the night
I broke through the ice
She won't be coming back again
It's been a year and a night
She won't be coming back again
It never wins to lie
She said you'll never have no rights
I've took it nearly to the brink
And if you've seen me on the outside
You would have barely seen me breathe
Inside a paper cup
Without a warning or a reason it's a treason
With no answer
To keep me waiting here
You got no right
To keep the pain in here
That holds the crown
(You really don't believe me)
And if I take it to the brink
And if I fall apart on the outside
(You really don't believe me)
You would have barely seen me breathe
Will you be loving me forever
It's always over after the night
It's always colder after the night
I broke through the ice
She won't be coming back again
It's been a year and a night

i have a hunch that it's about scott's heroin addiction. it wouldn't be the first time he personified heroin as a woman. he did it in "barbarella" and stp's "atlanta," too.
the second stanza (I've took it nearly to the brink/ And if you've seen me on the outside/ You would have barely seen me breathe) is a good description of an addict from an observer's pov.
for the last stanza (And if I meet you out tonight/ Will you be loving me forever), "you" could be heroin. it fits well, especially when it gets "colder after the night" i.e. after his high ends. and i think "It's been a year and a night" is the time he's been sober, or at least claimed he was.
in that case "You really don't believe me" might be the people in his life who doubt him when he says he's clean.
Im feeling that this song is about how he loves this girl and she doesnt love him back... That he misses her when he cant see her "It's always cold after the night"
maybe he and this girl had a fight, but he still luves her, and also, there is somthing about this whole 1 year thing w/scoot. look at fall 2 peices GOOD SONG
Scott's wife mary had filed for divorce, thats why he writes as though he's lost her, luckily for scott, they reconciled and are now back together
This is my fav track. I think it's about being close to someone and then losing them and "funny how i find myself inside a paper cup" where you end up. He's been waiting for her to come back. And after a while loses all hope. he's upset with himself because he couldn't show her the real him.
this song is absolutely amazing live. if anyone has the chance to see them live .. SEE THEM .. they put on a fantastic show.
i haven't heard this song in ages, but i remember really liking it...but i'm not sure...hmm...
...I love the morons that dont post the proper lyrics....here are the CORRECT lyrics:
fell through the ice She won't be coming back again It never wins to lie She said you'll never have no rights
I've took it farther on the outside I've took it nearly to the brink And if you've seen me on the outside You would have barely seen me breathe
Funny right here I find myself Inside a paper cup Without a warning or a reason it's a treason With no answer
You got no right To keep me waiting here You got no right To keep the pain in here That holds the crown
And if I fall apart on the outside (You really don't believe me) And if I take it to the brink And if I fall apart on the outside (You really don't believe me) You would have barely seen me breathe
And if I meet you out tonight Will you be loving me forever It's always over after the night It's always colder after the night I broke through the ice She won't be coming back again It's been a year and a night
....azlyrics gives shitty lyrics. listen to the damn song.
the papercut verse says to me that --- its funny that scott is in this small, tight spot with out him knowing, and that spot is his relationship with his wife.
phoenix6475 damn your a dumb ass!!! you hate how people dont post proper lyrics and then you go and post incorrect lyrics...Dumbass
P.S. There is no word "papercut" in the song maybe you ment paper cup! And a small tight spot? damn you take things literal dont you (whenever you hear the village people song Y.M.C.A. you probably think how fun it would be to hang out there) the paper cup line is a reference to drinking. When at a club or on the road sometimes shot glasses are not such a smart idea(ever get hit with one) so shots ( thats alcohol,numb-nutts) are served in dixxie cups!
It's definitely about Scott's supposed divorce. He's broken because of Mary leaving (or wanting to leave) him. And I agree with lack4life, "paper cup" refers to drinking. He's killing his sorrows by sipping on Stella Artois and Jack. Or some shit like that. Brilliant song. I prefer the Contraband album to Libertad, although Libertad is still of good quality. Slash is king!
