Primitive (The Way I Treat You) Lyrics
feel sick without you and i can't let you go
i told you i don't want to but you don't let me say no
i drop a wire to your mom and your dad and say
"relax, don't think about the way i treat you"
shake humble hands with a far away neighbor
take part in somethin you can sure understand
you're now allergic to the rumble and noise
so relax, don't think about the way i treat you
(uh-huh)
well i've got the time
and i found a way
and i really want you
and you really want to
sent from st. louis with a bomb in his brain
he drove his brand new sports car on a national campaign
he's not affected by the rallies and wars and says
"relax, don't think about the way i treat you"
(believe me)
you learn to walk at a comfortable slumber
pursuing numbly toward sure history
you don't remember and it's not important
so relax, don't think about the way i treat you
(yeah)
well i've got the time
and i've got a way
and i really want you
and you really want to
and i've got the time
well i found a way
and i really want you
and you really want to
i've got the time
and i found a way
and i really want you
and you really want to
(and you really want to)

This reminds me of a girlfriend I had once. We were always in some sort of problem. But no matter what we went through, we still stayed together, like, no matter how shittily we were to each other, it didn't matter. I guess we just didn't think about the way we treated each other. The song takes on a social/political undertone after the first verse though, but it's still about the same thing. Ignoring the way you're treated because you have faith in something. It's kind of like the Book of Job.
this song sounds very lou reed-ish. anyone else agree?
gawd. i love ambulance ltd.
and this has to be one of the Coolest Songs Ever.
i don't really know why, either... there's just this feeling i get when i listen to it where i'm like... "yeah, this song kicks atmospheric ass."
oh yeah.

personally i think it sounds like a song by Cake still sweet.
at first this song sounds like a guy abusing his girlfriend or something and he's telling her to ignore it and not to think about it. but i don't think that's what it means. ThePython's interpretation sounds way more logical.
yeow just replying to a comment left ages back, yes I agree this does sound like some of lou reeds stuff. I love it
Such a fun, cool song.
This song totally reminds me of this girl I used to mess around with. I first heard it while we were making out on the floor. It was probably one of the top ten things of ever. Top 20, at least.
The third stanza is so very political. I almost want to say the whole song is about electioneering in the USA, but that's just be to deny that it's obviously about messed up romantic relationships.
I think the first stanza is not about a girl, but about your parents. Sick without you, could it mean homesick?
The second stanza seems political.
Everything after the (yeah) verse definitely is about a girl.
this is an infectiously good song, the lead singer copies lou reed more than julian casablancas copies lou reed.
