Yours And Mine

Maybe I'm just being negative, but I always figured this mini-song was about the sun setting on a relationship. The couple's been together for a long time, but now their time together has reached its end and it's time to "divvy up the wine," just "Like everything else here." In a very separated sense, everything in their home is "yours and mine," meaning that "now it's time to decide what is mine and what is yours before our lives become separate once again."

"Picking up the paper/Coffee's been made" is indicative of their normal day-to-day activities; that is, picking up the newspaper and making coffee. This, however, will be the last time that they do these things together, as they are both "in the same mind" and know that the end is near.

I think the calm, quiet feel of the song is meant to show the narrator's acceptance of the end of their time together because, let's face it, sometimes there just isn't any way to save a relationship, no matter how much you love each other or how long you've been together.

Anyway, I love this little track and I always keep it on repeat for like twenty minutes at a time.

i really like this song, i'm not sure why. i've heard people call it unnecessary (it's the last track on Welcome Interstate Managers) but i think it's a good closer, just him and a guitar. it's about a happy, settled couple and it has a nice soothing feel to it.

this is a nice song to close the album on, short and sweet, with a calm melody. its almost reminicient of the increasingly shorter tracks that the beatles closed 'abbey road' with. in fact, as i listen to it, it also brings to mind the simplicity of 'blackbird' with the vocals, the guitar and the steady beat in the background. good song.

WalrusMan is right about this song. It's about the end to a relationship. The divvy up the wine part shows that they are placing things into categories of what is his and what is theirs. That's the end to any relationship really. And I do think the tone he has show he does accept this. I mean, it'd sound much sadder if he hadn't, or more angry.
