Another Saturday Night Lyrics

Another Saturday Night and I ain’t got nobody,
I have some money ‘cause I just got paid.
How I wish I had someone to talk to,
I’m in an awful way.

I blew in town I week ago, I ain’t seen a lotta girls since then.
If I could find ‘em I could get ‘em, but as yet I haven’t met ‘em,
That’s why I’m in the shape I’m in Ohh

Another Saturday Night and I ain’t got nobody,
I have some money ‘cause I just got paid.
How I wish I had someone to talk to,
I’m in an awful way.

Another fella told me, he had a sister that looked so fine.
Instead of being my deliverance, she had a strong resemblance to a
Cat named Frankenstein Ohh

Another Saturday Night and I ain’t got nobody,
I have some money ‘cause I just got paid.
How I wish I had someone to talk to,
I’m in an awful way.

It’s hard for a fella, when he don’t know his way around,
If I can’t find me a honey to help me spend my money,
I’m gonna have to blow this town Ohh

Another Saturday Night and I ain’t got nobody,
I have some money ‘cause I just got paid.
How I wish I had someone to talk to,
I’m in an awful way.

definitely. A really sad, lonely song delivered beautifully.

"Instead of being my deliverance, she had a strong resemblance to a Cat named Frankenstein " best line ever ahah

I like how when the backup singers say "someone" in the chorus, he keeps saying "some chick" instead.

Also the word "deliverance" seems like an element of Sam's early gospel days, which makes the "Frankenstein" line that much funnier

To a modern ear this is quite misogynistic - "find me a honey to help me spend my money", "If I could meet [girls[ I could get 'em", "if I was back home I'd be swinging Two chicks on my arm" and the Frankenstein line. But it sounds good.

I can't believe no one has pointed out the obvious truth here. The song is about renting out a hooker for the night. Why else would the money be such a central point in the song? "If I don't find me a honey to help me spend my money" ? Perhaps he meant it a bit more directly than you've given him credit for.
