Blood Bleeds Lyrics
In a long time traveled really far
In a long time traveled really far
Where am I
Nobody knows me
And I don't know...
Anyone can, nobody does
Somebody should
Everyone keeps on talking
Like they got the answers
What was the question?
Well I know that
Blood tastes like steel seeds
And skinned knees on sidewalks
And I need the salt freedom
Blood bleeds on my lips
My love
Blood bleeds on
Ran through the fields
Grass cut our legs
Grass cuts our legs
Sister was calling
We're both under nothing
And nothing's above us but Heaven
And that's over my head
Headed down south
Firewater steps, firewater feet
The South was such a blast
With firewater mind, firewater soul
Where am I?
Well this won't be the last time
Blood tastes like steel seeds
And skinned knees on sidewalks
And I need the salt freedom
Blood bleeds on my lips
My love
Blood bleeds on
In a long time traveled really far
Where am I
Nobody knows me
And I don't know...
Somebody should
Everyone keeps on talking
Like they got the answers
What was the question?
Well I know that
And skinned knees on sidewalks
And I need the salt freedom
Blood bleeds on my lips
My love
Blood bleeds on
Grass cut our legs
Grass cuts our legs
Sister was calling
We're both under nothing
And nothing's above us but Heaven
And that's over my head
Firewater steps, firewater feet
The South was such a blast
With firewater mind, firewater soul
Where am I?
Well this won't be the last time
And skinned knees on sidewalks
And I need the salt freedom
Blood bleeds on my lips
My love
Blood bleeds on

I think this song is beautiful...such imagery goes a long way. The background of the song corresponds and interacts perfectly.
I think it is a beautiful song as well... i wish i understood the lyrics better... any ideas anyone?
i might be totally getting this wrong. but my interpretation is that the injustices of life we sort of leave alone and dont act upon. we are all too consumed with our own goals that we sort of ignore whats really important at times. blood tastes like steel seeds/ and skinned knees on sidewalks- i think this is about how what is ours is a reflection on the building blocks of society. i could be totally off on this. its a sort of random, but quite beautiful, song.
I wonder if the salt mentioned has anything to do with the blood.
I think this song means kinda what redcedarfever was getting at in but i think it means that as this person travels far searching for answers he is brought back to earth through blood and that it brings him back to realtiy
Well to me the song means Everyone's personal experiences, like their whole life as it goes on, you gather your own accomplishments and your own pains as well. There's always people saying how life should be lived but you can be the only person to tell yourself that. No matter what you're gonna get hurt sooner or later, and it'll stay with you forever, and you assume this and look around the corners for the pain, almost feening for it. And the South, I think it corresponds to the part of your life that you thought was the best. I could be completely wrong, this song just makes me think of life in general.
could there be a connotation of family with "blood"? a sister is mentioned....and the way the song begins, almost reminiscent of someone leaving the family home for the first time, growing up, starting out on their own. bit of a stab in the dark with this song, but that's what came to my mind, anyway.
Wow, big chunks of time between comments on this amazing song! Blood? How much more personally intimate does it get than that? Family resonates in me when I hear this, memories of being a kid running around with my older brother and taking it all in without expectations...other than fun and a sense of peace on a beautiful day. We fall down, get a busted lip...we remember that. Over time it becomes a good thing, but we cried when it happened. Yet, we DO remember those things that actually awakened us, even if for only a few moments.
The realization of our individuality and unlikeliness we will ever be totally understood...we are so puzzled by our own behavior, at times. We still wish for the connection, though.
Being outdoors very much an energy of this song.
This sounds like it covers the span of several years.
The South. My visits down there were often simple adventures in a car or motorcycle. I swear you could drive around with a bottle of booze in your hand, get pulled over and be told to drive carefully, now willya? Just my recalls. Firewater, it's what SEEMS allowable to experience more liberally in the South than other parts of the country. No casting of aspersions at all on folks who live down there as I say this...just my recalls, is all!
Just because the fine folks at songmeanings.net interpret the lyric as "...salt freedom", doesn't mean it wasn't 'meant as "...soul freedom".
A gorgeous piece that brings up so many fuzzed-out remembrances. I've played it over and over 8 or 9 times now and the tears just stream down my face. Beautiful.
