Shake Shake Lyrics
You board an airplane
Take your seat and watch as
All the seasons they change
In a wave of your hand
And all the boys gasp
Stand on legs that shake shake
They all want inside you
They all want to wear you clothes
And its just motion
Yes everybody knows it
And its just motion
Yes everybody knows it
And I wish you would close your eyes
Pay attention to the sound of our blood
Because it seems with the birds outside
Who are telling us
Oh, dont be afriad
Oh yeah we wont be afriad
Oh yeah we wont be afriad
Oh yeah we wont be afriad
Oh yeah we wont be afriad
Oh yeah the rooms full
All these dancing bodies
All this flesh you're touching
And still it dont mean a thing
And all the mouths move
All the lips of red red
They do all this talking
And nothings ever really said
And yeah its backwards
Yes everybody knows it
And its just backwards
Yes everybody knows it
And I wish you would close your eyes
Pay attention to the sound of our blood
Because it seems with the birds outside
Who are telling us
Oh, dont be afriad
Now you're shaking their hands
Each one so cold
A symptom of the yearly toll
Its just the flu
It's been going around
And do you believe in rock and roll?
Can music come and save your soul?
I dont think so
Because you're dancing too slow
Oh yeah you're dancing too slow
Oh yeah you're dancing too slow
Oh yeah you're dancing too slow
Oh yeah you're dancing too slow
Take your seat and watch as
All the seasons they change
In a wave of your hand
Stand on legs that shake shake
They all want inside you
They all want to wear you clothes
Yes everybody knows it
And its just motion
Yes everybody knows it
Pay attention to the sound of our blood
Because it seems with the birds outside
Who are telling us
Oh, dont be afriad
Oh yeah we wont be afriad
Oh yeah we wont be afriad
Oh yeah we wont be afriad
All these dancing bodies
All this flesh you're touching
And still it dont mean a thing
All the lips of red red
They do all this talking
And nothings ever really said
Yes everybody knows it

this is one of my favorite songs. ever. i love any band that implies that you should dance.
This song is so great. I love tilly, they make me want to wear bright colours and dance through a field of daisies...and tap dance
i think it's "because it SINGS with the birds outside" makes more sense that way
And do you believe in rock and roll? Can music come and save your soul? I dont think so Because you're dancing too slow
ahhh, i love it.

this song is so amazing...its poetic...tillyandthewall is beyond belief
"jazz hand, boot to the moon"
Every time I hear the beginning to this song, I start to smile and don't stop smiling until it's over. (: But it's 'afraid' not 'afriad'.
The first section of the song, especially "All the seasons they change in a wave of your hand" always makes me think of Conor Oberst, because he's always writing about the changing seasons, and has written about the movement of a hand waving quite a few times as well..
This song, to me (and I could be terribly wrong, but this is just my interpretation) is about a guy who's in love with a girl who sleeps around (example 1: "And its just motion/Yes everybody knows it", with motion referring to sex)(example 2: All this flesh you're touching/And still it don't mean a thing). He wants to be exclusive, but she doesn't think there's anything wrong with being with other people.
