I've Got It All (Most) Lyrics

I've got it all, most
I've got it all almost all figured out
But always when I get there
Always when I get there all the pieces they just fall apart
and I

I can't hear you
I can't hear you talk about your dreams involving me
and I don't believe
I don't believe that they are any sort of prophecy at all

What a shock, it's Mr. Sweet and Awful
Well, don't look so pissed off
We all lose the plot occasionally

How consistent
How can someone so consistently mess up
As much as every instance?
How can someone inconsistent
Mess up so consistently?

What a shock, it's Mr. Sweet and Awful
Tell your gods I want to speak to their fathers
Look right now, I'm standing on my haunches
I got caught stealing from the lost and found

Hey there, Mr. Sweet and Awful
Hey there, Mr. Sweet and Awful
Are you going somewhere
Or are you just walking through my walls?

Hey there, Mr. Sweet and Awful
Hey there, Mr. Sweet and Awful
This is not a party, this is a crowd

Well hey there, Mr. Sweet and Awful
You see, you've got it easy, I've got my needs
You say what you got
Wanting what you please

Hey there, Mr. Sweet and Awful
Hey there, Mr. Sweet and Awful
Carry yourself away with a delicious disease

I've got it all, most
I've got it all almost all figured out

to mcscumbag: you are the biggest hippocrit- you like the cd and then they get air play and you dislike them? that makes no sense. most of the idiots like you just say "modest mouse sucks and i never liked good news" but not you. you clearly are not as smart as those idiots. anyone who likes old modest mouse can NOT hate this album for any other reason than they got major radio play. and you will claim it is not true but alas you are a liar. for instance: isaac's manic ravings in bury me with it are nearly identical with the manic ravings in the bridge of doin the cockroach. with songs like this devils workday and satin in a coffin you can't say their sound was changed to get airplay. those are so unlike anything that are on the radio. a band should be judged by their music and nothing else. by disliking good news for your stupid reasons you are missing out on really good music.

I think the song is simply about third party observations of very annoying people...which is basically 95% of the world (especially Mcscum). The Mouse is the Mouse...and just like boys become men...all people change to some degree...even musicians. There was a song written about people like you McScum...called Hooker with a Penis..look it up and go cry yourself to sleep...and don't get your hopes up...Brocks not gonna write a bad ass song about you!

This song is so underrated. I think some of the best lyrics Isaac has produced and that's really saying something. Dude is my Bob Dylan.

I second everything in this post

by the way negatyve, claudio, and mcscumbag have lost their privilige to think. there's only a certain amount of stupidity i can handle in one day.

i just discovered MM about two months ago and i was smoking a lot of weed at the time. having never herd any of their songs before on the radio or anywhere else i was completely awe struck by the awesomeness that is Modest Mouse, almost to the point of tears...

this was one of the first songs i herd and im just throwin up some love for this song, missed the boat, bukowski, fire it up, worm vs birds, Dramamine and so so many more...

MM changed my life

I think this song is about their drummer Jeremiah (Jeremy) Green. He suffered a nervous breakdown and temporarily quit the band in 2003, just before the sessions for Good News For People Who Love Bad News began (the album to which this song is an outtake from).

"What a shock its Mr. sweet and awful Don't look so pissed off we all lose the plot occasionally"

  • In the book, Modest Mouse: A Pretty Good Read by Adam Goldsher, it is revealed that before Jeremiah left the band, he was struggling with bi-polar behavior, usually lashing out at the other band members for no real reason and then hiding in some corner of the studio.

"How consistent How can someone so consistently mess up as much as Every instance How can someone inconsistent mess up so consistently"

-Also possibly about his bi-polar behavior prior to quitting the band. In the book it says that he barely made any effort to play the drums properly for the new song demos, meaning that he lost consistency with drumming abilities. This theory is a little more far fetched, but it seems viable. The "inconsistent" part could be referring to his crazy behavioral patterns at the time.

Judging from the amount of turmoil surrounding Modest Mouse in the 2003-2004 era, it seems like their longtime drummer and (I would imagine) best friend's leaving the band on unfriendly, mentally unstable terms would be good fuel for a wry new song.

I always thought it said standin on my "haunches" haunches sounds better to me, rather than fortunes. Than i also thought it said, "I got class, stole it from the lost & found"
