I'm Goin' Down Lyrics
We sit in the car outside your house
I can feel the heat coming 'round
I go to put my arm around you
and you give me a look like I'm way out of bounds
well you let out one of your bored sighs
Well lately when I look into your eyes
I'm goin down
We get dressed up and we go out, baby, for the night
We come home early burning, burning in some fire fight
I'm sick and tired of you setting me up
Setting me up just to knock-a knock-a knock-a me down
I pull you close but when we kiss I can feel a doubt
I remember back when we started
My kisses used to turn you inside out
I used to drive you to work in the morning
Friday night I'd drive you all around
You used to love to drive me wild
But lately girl you get your kicks from just driving me down
I can feel the heat coming 'round
I go to put my arm around you
and you give me a look like I'm way out of bounds
well you let out one of your bored sighs
Well lately when I look into your eyes
I'm goin down
We come home early burning, burning in some fire fight
I'm sick and tired of you setting me up
Setting me up just to knock-a knock-a knock-a me down
I remember back when we started
My kisses used to turn you inside out
I used to drive you to work in the morning
Friday night I'd drive you all around
You used to love to drive me wild
But lately girl you get your kicks from just driving me down

Critics say it is the most simple off the album, which is why they dislike. I love it for the exact same reason. Such a song that rings when it comes the ugly part of the relationship - the end.
The best rocker on the Born In the USA album. Have to sing along and dance every time I hear it. It was a big hit in the Fall of 1985 (I think the 6th of 7 singles from the album) but you never hear it on the radio any more. Which is a shame.
You'll hear it on E Street Radio if you have XM radio

I think this song is just heartbreaking. So many relationships end this way. Listen to the cover by Florence and the Machine, and you'll catch it.
I also love the sax part in it.
Just another good and stable Bruce song!!
Cool rock n roll with fab sax - spot on - nothing like this now
Great "fun" track. Love songs like this that make you move to heartbreak.
Does the song suck more just because it's only 3 minutes long or what exactly is your point? Very clever said, idiot. I like the simplicity and straighforwardness of the song. No need to complicate it.
Florence and the machine have done a wonderful cover of this song.
Maybe I'm a jerk who thinks I'm cool to get the line "My kisses used to turn you inside out". About the vagina blooming out like a flower when he kisses her. The insides are coming out... Great line in a truly great song.
I can't help but sing this in my head every second time i get into the elevator at work, just after it says "going down". My favorite track on the album, almost as good as a Ramones track, seriously!
