Almost Perfect

When you first listen to this song, you probably think that the guy and the girl are togehter, but when you get to the end, you realize that they're not, because he talks about someone else in her life, and also states that "she's not mine." So the way I see it, this song is about how this guy is so in love with this girl even though all her imperfections, and still doesn't care about the fact that she's with someone else.

I dunno, I still think they are together because even at the end he says: Maybe I know there's someone else in her life/When I climb into bed with her at night. So like they're together and he seems just really in love with her even though he knows she does have a lot of imperfections like how she's seeing someone else and isn't being honest about it. Seems a little bittersweet, she's so great but at the same time she has so many flaws. I really like this song.....

I think this song is just something he wrote about his girlfriend just to see how it sounds like so much B.S. My previous relationship was that way. I wish that I had enough sense to write a song to actually hear my own words I was telling myself. I always said, "Oh he's so close to being perfect. Even tho he probably cheats on me and maybe kisses other girls, he's so close to being perfect. He might get high (maybe her eyes are just a little bit red almost all the time) and smoke cigarettes (maybe her hair it smells like cigarettes when I climb into bed with her at night.)

That's my theory.

To me, this song is about how this guy believes he has found perfection in this girl he's been watching from afar, yet he's searching for her imperfections. In the verses, he's speaking hypothetically when he says "maybe". So, maybe one of her flaws could be that her hair smells like cigarettes, or that she's dishonest most of the time.

When you get to the end of the song, it's like the guy is saying that the ONLY imperfection he's found in this girl, is that she's not with him.

She's almost perfect...with one exception...she's not with the guy.

He's obsessed with her even though she's "not the most proper lady"

It's like when you really like something that's reeeealy horrible (a girl, in this instance) and everyone points out how much it sucks but you just won't be swayed.

It's being expressed as "Yeah, maybe she's a vixen from hell, but I'm still mad for her"

For what it's worth, this song was written (with the help of Tonic's Emerson Hart) by Ingram Hill's guitarist, Phil Bogard, about his relationship with Jessica Harp of The Wreckers.

I can't believe Ingram Hill don't get any comments. They are totally under-rated.

That's because they hardly ever get any airtime...they aren't overplayed yet....I mean mainstream yet.

I'm going to a concert tomorrow at our college and one of the bands is Ingram Hill. I'd never heard them, so to get ready for the concert I downloaded a few of their songs. They are amazing! This has got to be my favorite song they sing.

The guy is hoping to find a girl. He's done this many times be fore (like all guys haved including me). Now he comes across another girl that he thinks might be perfect. But he doesnt know her bad side. And he's trying to discover what they are. overall the only problem with the girl is that he and her arnet together.
