Layla Lyrics

What'll you do when you get lonely,
Nobody waiting by your side?
You've been running
And hiding much too long;
You know it's just your foolish pride.
Layla, you've got me on my knees.
Layla, I'm begging darling, please.
Layla, darling won't you ease my worried mind.

Tried to give you consolation,
When your old man had let you down.
Like a fool, I fell in love with you,
And turned my whole world upside down.
Layla, you've got me on my knees.
Layla, I'm begging darling, please.
Layla, darling won't you ease my worried mind.

Let's make the best of the situation
Before I finally go insane.
Please don't say we'll never find a way,
And tell me all my love's in vain.
Layla, you've got me on my knees.
Layla, I'm begging darling, please.
Layla, darling won't you ease my worried mind.

arguably, the best song on unrequited love.

True Fact; the ending instrumental was actually composed by Rita Coolidge and stolen by Dominoes drummer Jim Gordon. She had provided sheet music and a cassette of it to Eric Clapton.

ahhh amazing song! The guitar in the beginning is CLASSIC. I love the contrast between rock and melody. The piano and the guitar near the end of the song go wonderfully together, but is a bit sad, almost like a whining, sad tune...like two lovers that drifted away from eachother.

I never knew that about the origins of the song... its such a great song and i've been trying to get a hold of this version (not the eric clapton song by the same name) for a while. It was also in the movie Goodfellas (great movie), and since i heard it on the radio a few weeks ago it reminded me of the movie and i've finally been able to track down a version with decent quality. I'm going to end up buying it now that i know that this is the song from the movie.

Alittle bit before half way through starts the instrumental part of the song, which lasts til the end, and that was used in goodfellas. It has so much feeling to it you can easily get lost in it. Overall a great song.

You need to take into account that the Eric Clapton song is THE SAME SONG. Eric was the lead of Derek and the Dominos - in fact, they got that name because a radio presenter mispronounced 'Eric and the Dynamos'. They decided they liked the new name better.

Allman and Clapton were masters. I find this song so much better than the unplugged version.
