slaved into brittle and worked for days
only thing that paves your stay
look behind you see what you've made
like a workhorse stands for miles
work for you and never get tired
roll 'em up it's time to go
we'll be back before it's too long
shaved into rhythm
work for days
consequences we have paid
to be free in a world we've made
like a workhorse stands for miles
work for you and never get tired
roll 'em up it's time to go
we can bet on all that's lost
before it's too long
burning hell
only thing that paves your stay
look behind you see what you've made
like a workhorse stands for miles
work for you and never get tired
roll 'em up it's time to go
we'll be back before it's too long
work for days
consequences we have paid
to be free in a world we've made
like a workhorse stands for miles
work for you and never get tired
roll 'em up it's time to go
we can bet on all that's lost
before it's too long

This is one of the best metal songs i have heard in a while!! when i bought the record Remmision, and listened to this song, i wa blown away!!! the guitar work is amazing!!! Love it!!!
That quote is the basic meaning. The song is also about comparing work to slavery and also about how we've accepted having to work just to live in our society ("Consequences we have paid to be free in a world we've made"). It's like if we didn't work, we wouldn't be able to live, but we still regret it.
I'm a bit disappointed how the lyrics on the booklet don't match the ones in the song, these lyrics are missing a line and the final verse.
"This song is about work. Work fucking sucks!Workhorse!" Roskilde 2005, one of my greatest concerts ever
Work does fucking suck...
This song rules yo. Keep it real dawg.
this song is about people who work jobs 9 to 5, monday - friday, and get payed shit for it. like in the early days of mastodon, they worked during the day and played shows at night for nothing, pretty much its just about work and how much it sucks...
"This next song is about work, and how it sucks."
That's what they said it was about in concert a few years ago. The lyrics are deeper sounding than that, but that's the overall theme.
