Behind the Garage Lyrics

What would you like to talk about then
Since everything I say doesn't make sense
It's not 'cause what I did behind the garage
It's not just that, the reason I can't talk

How come it upsets you so
Shouldn't it be me who feels uneased
How come you first think of my health
Trying to forget

Everything that passes in my eyes
The second they close and I'm in my cold bed
Keep your feet away from me you said
Trying to close you out of my cold head

How come it upsets you so
Shouldn't it be me who feels uneased
How come you first think of my health
Trying to forget

This was the song that got my hooked on Erics Trip, back in 1996. It must be about getting stoned, one way or another. All acoustic- which is their best material IMO. Their electric stuff wasn't my cup of tea.

HA-I TOLD YOU-People are so silly, they think since they can play a song & sing it "almost Perfectly" their own interpretation has got to be right- Well, I can play the simple guitar song too & I can sing it half ass-so take that- 6 years later I Win!

This song has absolutely nothing to do with getting stoned. This whole album was wriiten while Rick White and Julie Doiron were broken up (while keeping it a secret from the band) and all of it is about Rick cheating on Julie (with a woman named Tara) and this song is specifically about how it changed everything.

not saying you are wrong, but that seems like kind of a questionable tactic for keeping a secret: writing an album of highly situationally accurate themes, including specific details and not even changing the names? i guess things are just done differently in canada...

in most cases i'm reluctant to say a song is "about' drugs. to me it sounds almost as weird/irrelevant as if you said your friend 'john' was 'about pot' because he smokes it. i don't think this song is about pot, but i'd say its a pretty good bet that it smokes it.

This song is not about getting stoned...... I can play this song on acoustic and sing it almost perfectly, so I seem to have a pretty good understanding of it. It's about rejection, it's about "Everything that passes in my eyes." He is loved but rejected as displayed in the difference between the chorus and verse. People want to be loved and to love without the fear of breaking up and destroying memories. No one wants to move on and replace those old memories with new ones.

I was at a concert of theirs a few months ago, and after introducing the song, Rick White said "I used to smoke my doobies back there" so it is not not about getting stoned.

@Prophet_for_profit lol @ the arrogance of someone 11 years ago who thinks knowing how to play the song on guitar qualifies you more to interpret its lyricism. I wonder if this guy was like 13 when he wrote that
