This is such a great song. Clearly about his struggles. "we're just wasted prayers w/out holding onto your embrace". Great line.
I think it means that someone who has once been happy is now miserable, and suicide might have been an option for them, but they now realize that life is worth living basically. and accepting that life will get better.
