A Prayer for England Lyrics
In the name of
And by the power of
The holy spirit
May we invoke your
Intersession for
The children of england
Some of whom have seen
Murder so obscene
Some of whom have been taken
Let not another child be slain
Let not another search be made in vain
Jah forgive us
For forgetting
Jah help us
We need more loving
See the teachers
Are representing you
So badly
That not many can see you
Let not another child be slain
Let not another search be made in vain
Jah calls the ones who's
Beliefs kill children too
Feel the love of you and be healed
And may we all cry too
For representing you
So badly so badly
Jah forgive us
For forgetting
Oh Jah help us
To be forgiving
The teachers are representing you
So badly that not many can see you
Let not another child be slain
Let not another search be made in vain
And by the power of
The holy spirit
May we invoke your
Intersession for

Ik denk vooral aan het kolonisatiegedrag van Engeland dat niet verteld word door leerkrachten op school. Op deze manier blijven kinderen slaaf van het verleden.
The meaning to this is painfully obvious; quit misrepresenting Jah ("God") and learn to be more civil.
Is it Sinead O'Connor who is singing this song?
yes, its
Reminds me a bit, of this >>
So Abram rose, and clave the wood, and went, And took the fire with him, and a knife. And as they sojourned both of them together, Isaac the first-born spake and said, My Father, Behold the preparations, fire and iron, But where the lamb for this burnt-offering? Then Abram bound the youth with belts and strops, And builded parapets and trenches there, And stretched forth the knife to slay his son. When lo! an angel called him out of heaven, Saying, Lay not thy hand upon the lad, Neither do anything to him. Behold, A ram, caught in a thicket by its horns; Offer the Ram of Pride instead of him.
But the old man would not so, but slew his son, And half the seed of Europe, one by one.
This song one of the best of the 100th Window imo :)
sorry bout the irrelevant post, this is a great song though

Sinead is lamenting two things: Firstly, that organised religion has lost its way and is teaching rubbish, such that most people cannot know God as He intended. And secondly that men's hearts have become so evil that even children are abducted and murdered. She is praying for the Holy Spirit to intervene and stop the madness. If you read up on her previous protests against the Catholic Church and their cover up of child abuse by Catholic priests, it makes perfect sense.
@MisterBungle This is dead on and most likely the reason Del Naja wanted Sinéad to sing the lead. Back in 1992 I remember watching her rip up a photograph of the pope live on SNL. It is 2019, this song is now almost 20 years old and the Catholic Church is still being a little too forgiving of the actions of these abusers. I know this post is from 2011, but I was just listening to Massive Attack radio on Pandora and I wanted to see what comments were made about this song.

@SullivanStew Actually knowing what I know now, I think I was only halfway there with my interpretation. I suspect she may be referring to the Satanic ritual abuse, pedophile rings and child sacrifice which are going on behind the veil all across the world. The Vatican is one of the power centres for this Luciferian empire. So come soon, Lord Jesus, establish your Kingdom and wash away all this evil. Amen.

@MisterBungle – However, if that were true, why does the title refer spefically to England? This problem doesn't just affect this part of UK respectively the world. Plus, within England, it didn't just concern the Catholic Church.
