Please Help The Cause Against Loneliness Lyrics
Please help the cause against loneliness
Would you like to note my home address ?
Please help the cause against loneliness
Would you kindly note my inside leg ?
Oh, I don't mind what time you come round
If it's the daytime then I might be in bed - oh
I'm so very young
I am so really, really young ... oh, oh
Please help the cause against loneliness
Would you like a list of my dislikes ?
There are people with problems
I know this ... I've know this for years
There are paupers and peers
Who have problems, oh
I don't mind what time you come round
If it's the weekend then I have to be dead, oh
I'm so very young
I'm so really, really young ... oh, oh
I'm so young - really, really (yeah yeah yeah)
I am so young
I am so young
I am so really, really young
I am so young
So young
Would you like to note my home address ?
Please help the cause against loneliness
Would you kindly note my inside leg ?
If it's the daytime then I might be in bed - oh
I'm so very young
I am so really, really young ... oh, oh
Would you like a list of my dislikes ?
There are people with problems
I know this ... I've know this for years
There are paupers and peers
Who have problems, oh
If it's the weekend then I have to be dead, oh
I'm so very young
I'm so really, really young ... oh, oh
I'm so young - really, really (yeah yeah yeah)
I am so young
I am so young
I am so really, really young
I am so young
So young

I've always adored this song. When Morrissey floats the "I Am So Young" section he sounds so melancholy and sexy and self-conscious and glam, all at the same. Very fascinating. A possible interpretation of the lyrics is he's a shy, reclusive young man writing a telegram to a call boy requesting his sexual experience to escort him out of his loneliness.
there's another version of this where sandie shaw sings lead vocals and morrissey sings backing vocals
Patti Smith writes about loneliness, in Set Me Free, and it ends with "I'm so young, so goddam young" etc
i've never actually heard this version i've only heard heard Sandie Shaw's however of course it is a beautiful song about something very touching.
i've always thought the "young" was used as an emphasis that life should be less lonely when you're young. also it could be related to the idea that the time with loneliness still has a long way to go, as life has longer to go.
Great song. Upbeat melody and pretty sad lyrics- pure Morrissey. About the "so young" part- life's supposed to be so much fun when you're young, right? well, loneliness can make you feel really shitty.
Hey, I'm young and lonely. This song is right up my alley.
