Your quiet eyes
Your mouth that never tells lies
You've got one hour
It's time you told your story
Eighteen, alone
In love with the answer phone
And too afraid, you're too afraid to fall for anything
And too afraid, much too afraid to sing
I won't pretend that I can't see the end
But it's far away
It's in the distance
We'll find a place
There is a room for two of us
The minutes drag
Then there's a world between us
And I'm too afraid, much too afraid to fall for anything
And I'm too afraid, much too afraid to sing
We all come to an end
And we all end together
We all end together
We all come to an end
And we all end together
We all end together
We all end together
We all end together
We all end together
We all end together
Your mouth that never tells lies
You've got one hour
It's time you told your story
Eighteen, alone
In love with the answer phone
And too afraid, you're too afraid to fall for anything
And too afraid, much too afraid to sing
I won't pretend that I can't see the end
But it's far away
It's in the distance
We'll find a place
There is a room for two of us
The minutes drag
Then there's a world between us
And I'm too afraid, much too afraid to fall for anything
And I'm too afraid, much too afraid to sing
We all come to an end
And we all end together
We all end together
We all come to an end
And we all end together
We all end together
We all end together
We all end together
We all end together
We all end together

and too afraid you're too afraid to sing."
i was listening to the album again after putting it aside for a few months and those words jumped right out at me- i don't know how i missed them before.
i really feel like those lines are written for me, and it's hard to sum up what the song is about unless you've ever been at a place in your life when you stop taking risks because of fear. it makes the "we all end together" a lot more profound and hopeful.
I love the lines, 'We'll find a place / There is a room for two of us'. It's so..reassuring and sweet.
its so simple to say "dont be afraid to love", dont be afraid to tel him/her that you love this guy/girl. but everyone knows thats not so simple.
Singing is not a simple game
Its like anytime you are afraid to take a big step, you sit back and tell yourself it will all work out on its own. Sure, it might work out, but then you wont be able to appreciate it, so what was the point of it working out? ya know?
