Top Expert Lyrics

In the light that I
Feel
I see crucifixes and
Expectancy
And I feel
So safe
Foot by foot
I feel like a
Beat cast-off
I feel so
Ashamed
Top expert on the
Supernatural
Tell us oh how do we
Catch a ghost in the
Dark
10 years richer with my
Magnet shield
I feel
Crucified
Backwards
Not too close
And I still feel so
Safe
Being olderly
But feel like I'm passing
I winning
I winning
And I still feel so
Ashamed
Top expert on the
Supernatural
Tell us oh how do we
Make it in the shade
Hey made of shame
Hope you don't hate it
In the shade
Like a ghost
In a jar

I see it as a person who is weak or confused about life goes to seek help from the church or a priest of some sort who specializes in the "supernatural" or divine.( as in christian beliefs). When this confused person goes, they see "crucifixes and expectancy": the way of a moral and just life and what is expected of us as God fearing humans. This makes him/her feel safe,"And I feel So safe" but at the same time realize that he/she is not worthy of repentance or forgiveness. "I feel like a Beat cast-off I feel so Ashamed"

Now feeling left out and cast off this person asks the priest or "Top Expert on the supernatural" how to go about finding ones self in the midst of all life's chaos and sin. "Tell us oh how do we Catch a ghost in the Dark"

This only half of the story.. Any Comments or points of view?

If you listen closely you can tell the actual lyrics are: "I see crucifixes and dyslexics" and can be backed up later when she sings "I feel crucified backwards."

There's a lot of things wrong with these lyrics. Nonetheless, this is an amazing song. "Hey, you made it in the shade... hope you don't hate it, in the shade... like a ghost in a jar." I believe this is compromising your ethics and morals, and becoming something you hate without being aware of it.

i always thought that "top expert" had a kind of sarcastic tone in addressing the said expert, so i don't think she's <really> asking for help. but if she had supernatural experiences, this song could definitely pertain to that.

"I see crucifixes and expectancy" sounds like "I see crucifixes and a 666".

I haven't seen this elsewhere on the Internet so... this song seems to be inspired by an article in the Weekly World News of August 3 1989. The headline is literally "Top expert on the supernatural tells you how to catch a ghost in a jar" (see https://books.google.com.au/books?id=Hu0DAAAAMBAJ&lpg=PA3&dq=%22top%20expert%20on%20the%20supernatural%22&pg=PA3#v=onepage&q=%22top%20expert%20on%20the%20supernatural%22&f=false). The article doesn't seem to explain anything else about the lyrics (eg, what is a "magnet shield") but the song must have come from this as the words are exactly the same. Perhaps the song is being sung from the perspective of the ghost being caught?? There are a lot of mistakes in the lyrics above, I'm sure, but I'm not confident to correct most of them... it's "foot by foot, I feel like I'm being cast off".
