Both as a standalone and as part of the DSOTS album, you can take this lyric as read. As a matter of public record, Jourgensen's drug intake was legendary even in the 1980s. By the late 90s, in his own words, he was grappling with massive addiction issues and had lost almost everything: friends, spouse, money and had nearly died more than once. "Dark Side of the Spoon" is a both funny & sad title for an album made by a musical genius who was losing the plot; and this song is a message to his fans & friends saying he knows it. It's painful to listen to so I'm glad the "Keith Richards of industrial metals" wised up and cleaned up. Well done sir.
what may i ask
it's never enough
it's never too sweet
and it's never too rough
what's there to do?
while you're waiting your turn
just pick on your scabs
and watch your cigarette burns
no no no
it's just that i act
so stupid sometimes
i forget all the rules
when waiting in line
don't get me wrong
cause im happy to be
anything but still
oh, my what a wonderful day
oh, my what a wonderful day for me
there's so much out there
that you can't see
from sitting in here
but dont you worry
cause i'll bring you the world
i'll bring you it all
you don't have to search
no you don't have to crawl
no no no
ok it's time, we're leaving this place
tie up your lace
for the second foot race
the monsters next door
and the lack of space
are no longer ours
cause we really don't need it
oh, my what a wonderful day
oh, my what a wonderful day for me
just out for a walk
on this lovely, sunny, sunday afternoon
it's never enough
it's never too sweet
and it's never too rough
what's there to do?
while you're waiting your turn
just pick on your scabs
and watch your cigarette burns
no no no
it's just that i act
so stupid sometimes
i forget all the rules
when waiting in line
don't get me wrong
cause im happy to be
anything but still
oh, my what a wonderful day
oh, my what a wonderful day for me
there's so much out there
that you can't see
from sitting in here
but dont you worry
cause i'll bring you the world
i'll bring you it all
you don't have to search
no you don't have to crawl
no no no
ok it's time, we're leaving this place

Techno Ted may be a person who caused Chris incredible emotional pain & trepidation as well as moments of peace & happiness but now is removed and awaiting his fate. Darling may be a different person who is also free of him and can live her life free of Ted's tyranny. "In between all the laughing, and daydreams ... lies: a desert of truth" Lies are like a desert or the omission of Truth: Where there were Lies then Truth was absent. The song, "Techno Ted", may be a cathartic celebration of the downfall of this person.

This is a sequel to 2001's "Reckless Abandon", and features the band looking back on their clumsy youth fondly.

How would you describe the feeling of being in love? For Ed Sheeran, the word is “Magical.” in HIS three-minute album opener, he makes an attempt to capture the beauty and delicacy of true love with words. He describes the magic of it all over a bright Pop song produced by Aaron Dessner.
The song is called "Oh My" At least, it says so on their myspace.
I absolutely love this song. To me it's a song of apprehension and they're just happy to be living in the moment rather than waiting for something to come along.
This version is the demo for "Oh My" -- it was on their Glassblower EP, I believe.
I think it was actually intended to be in the "go get'em tiger" ep version mellowdrone put online in 2003 but didn't made it to the actual pressing of the ep in 2004, along with the earlier version of "motivation"
I kind of like this version better
