What does this song mean to me?
You know when you are sick of listening to what you currently listen to and you might ask other people "Hey you know this song 'xyz', It's one of my favourites, what else do you think I would like"? And they might say, try this band/song "abc"?, I often use this song on both sides of that equation - as the 'xyz' song in the request and the 'abc' song in the reply when asked regarding indie/altera/"emo"(loosely related) etc.
I listened religiously to the "standards" of the mid-late 90's and early 00's: PJam SGar NirV SmPu FooF TOOL DefT STPi GrDa LIVE RHed RATM KORN etc...
In short, I thing this song/band is very underrated.
In "long", this song, and potentially this band could hold their own against all of them, given the oppurtunity. So many people say about other songs, "I can't believe no-one has commented on this song". In my mind this statement has never been more accurate with regards to this song, which worked it's way into my top 10 of all time, when I thought that I had heard everything and that would be near impossible. If you like indie/alterna/"emo" rock, download a decent quality (192+ or hq-vbr) version of this or buy this song/album.
I wish someone had told me this about 5 years ago - this song/album/band opened my eyes to the possibility that other "unknown" bands like this actually exist.
The other band that did something similar for me is EITS (explosions in the sky) - no lyrics but still one of my favourites.
