Verse Chorus Verse (Version 1) Lyrics
Driven conversations,
Even I can read
Wouldn't want to fake it,
And I'm tired of this dream
Taking medications,
In the back of the room
Driven conversations,
And he died in June
See the stab wounds in his hands
See him dying in his room
He's dying in his room
He's dying in his room
Heading for me, heading this way
He is coming, I don't care
Wouldn't want to fake it,
Well I don't mind
Giving conversations,
To a friend of mine
Giving medications,
In a lighted room
Wouldn't want to fake it,
I know I should
See the stab wounds in his hands
You killed him, I don't care
Keep a promise, you would too
Keep a promise, you would too
See the silence in his head
He is coming, I don't care
We're not gonna make it,
Well I don't mind
Wouldn't want to fake it,
But I have this time
Giving conversations,
To whom they don't know
Taking medications
Till my stomach's full
See a famine in his head
See him coming at their heels
He loves you, give him a chance
I don't love him, I don't care
See him starving, give her hell
It is over, we don't care
In his room
Even I can read
Wouldn't want to fake it,
And I'm tired of this dream
Taking medications,
In the back of the room
Driven conversations,
And he died in June
See him dying in his room
He's dying in his room
He's dying in his room
Heading for me, heading this way
He is coming, I don't care
Well I don't mind
Giving conversations,
To a friend of mine
Giving medications,
In a lighted room
Wouldn't want to fake it,
I know I should
You killed him, I don't care
Keep a promise, you would too
Keep a promise, you would too
See the silence in his head
He is coming, I don't care
Well I don't mind
Wouldn't want to fake it,
But I have this time
Giving conversations,
To whom they don't know
Taking medications
Till my stomach's full
See him coming at their heels
He loves you, give him a chance
I don't love him, I don't care
See him starving, give her hell
It is over, we don't care
In his room

Kurt actually wanted to name In Utero "verse chorus verse" because he was sick of playing music of that style and was looking to change on the next album. He worked with this music for YEARS trying to get the right lyrics for it. YES it was a reject for Nevermind, but if you listen closely to Stay Away, you may hear the same guitar chords. Wrap your mind around this...listen to verse chorus verse Outtake from With the Lights Out and then listen to Aneurysm...do you hear it again? Same with Sappy. If you play guitar you will notice how close all these are, variations of the same song. Watch the unedited version of Unplugged, between Pennroyal Tea and Dumb (One of my personal favorites), you see Krist walk over and talk to Kurt. Kurt tells him "play them back to back it doesn't matter they'll edit it for TV anyway". He then turns to the audience and tells them that Krist was worried about playing them back to back because "they are the same song". Again, if you play guitar, he's right. It is only the way the chords are played that is different clean, distorted, acoustic, or speed in which played they still come down to the same thing. Kurt was famous for making the same song different. So what if the posted lyrics here don't match what some think they should be, they were different every time he tried to get that song the way he wanted it. Kurt always sang songs different when live anyway, that he keeps you guessing to this day is a tribute to his creativity and passion. Just appreciate it and quit arguing about it.
This seems to be about someone who is dying slowly of a terminal illness.
I think it's about Kurt getting tired of being a "rock star" and also about his chronic stomach illness due due scoliosis (sp?)
this is, by far, a greater song than, so many songs of nirvana, why the fuck are they just two comments about it, i love this song , it is about somebody dying in his room, lol, and this is the best verse, "see the stab wouns in his hands"
this song is "in his hands"
This song is called "Verse Chorus Verse"
yea this is verse chorus verse, its an out-take from nevermind
i've never heard it, but it looks way cool, any thing kurt wrote is good
whoever calls this song in his hands of in his room is stupid
I fully agree with the lights out. imilktjesussnipples, you fucking idiot.
Wow withthelightsout and uncle fe fe, you guys must be really fucking bored. Haven't you ever heard of a miss-lable? Obviously not. You guys should get a life and stop acting like little 3 year olds, it's really noticable.
