O Is the One That Is Real Lyrics

Always leave your televisor on.
Always give your answers by the phone.
If you're hurt he wants to feel it.
If you've money he's your dealer.
If you're ready for him i don't want to see it.
Oh.
O is the one that is real.

I wonder if there is any connection with "Evelyn is Not Real". Pretty legit coincidence in the titles.

Ohh, and its not freakin' oxycontin, either. What a stupid cop-out. "Im not sure what its about so...its about drugs!". No every song is about drugs.

I would normally agree that "It's about drugs" is a lame explanation of a song, but I'm not so sure here. My first impression is that he's dealing with a friend who is troubled and on drugs.

Leaving the TV on all the time and only answering by phone can be seen as paranoid. It literally mentions the existence of a "dealer". A dealer of what? Cotton Candy?

I wonder if the "O is the one that is real" is kinda' sarcastic. Like, I'm you're friend, but I don't want to see you slinking back to...

I agree with gabbyownsme. Awesome song.

Does anyone know what he's screaming at the end of it? I hear "The radio is playing! The radio is playing!"

I believe it's "The radio, it plays!"

I like the Okonokos version so much more than the original recording

No, idea what this could possibly about. I guess I can make a really bad analysis on the fly though, doesn't hurt right?

Always leave your televisor on. Always give your answers by the phone. -These coupled sound like a warning to anyone who'll listen.

If you're hurt he wants to feel it. If you've money he's your dealer. -This makes it seem like whatever "he" or "it" is there to possibly revel in your pain, and perhaps drive you to vices to bring about more pain.

If you're ready for him i don't want to see it. -I'm not sure about this. Thinking about it now as I type, it makes it seem that if you are ready to confront "him" the speaker doesn't want to stick around and watch the slaughter.

Oh. O is the one that is real. -I had this crazy idea before I started typing this comment, maybe O is Oneself. Who else but oneself would want to feel pain or drive you to a vice or what have you. Using this logic, the previous lyric of If you're ready for him, I don't want to see it becomes a conflict between you and yourself.

The Radio, it plays! -I guess since the radio plays the same songs, this turns into whatever you are saying has been said before, and will likely be repeated yet again.

How's that for an on the spot analysis? :D

This could possibly be a reference from David Foster Wallace's "Infinite Jest"... "O. That he is the One"- pg 566. It has to do with a romantic conquest by the hands of one of the characters, Orin Incandenza. I can'take find anything on the Internet where Jim talks about the book but it hit me instantly when I read those words.
