Regarding what I've read so far, this song seems to be a criticism of the singers who leave their groups in order to gain personal fame... The likes of Robbie Williams, Justin Timberlake, Gwen Stefani or Fergie... We all know the late abuses of Japanese in videos and how the singers target them togain commercial success. She's prolly referring to the rock groups though, but I do not know any example from them so you name it;)
to me this song's about somebody who she've played with...maybe a member of an old band...cause she say's 'the record goes from blue to gold so thank you for all your help' i think the backstabber used to write songs or play an instrument with the band but he became a fucking backstabber...
