Bandit Lyrics
Turn the pages of this old book
Sounds familiar, it may be worth a second look
Wrapping up dope in a paper bag
Talking to yourself taking a drag
What does it matter the things you say
They'll never hear it anyway
Gotta get past the negative things
Lawyers and business, you get what you bring
No one's sorry you did it yourself
It's time to relax now and then give it hell
Someday you'll find what you're looking for
Someday you'll find everything you're looking for
You didn't bet on the Dodgers to beat the Giants
And David came up,
Now you gotta pay up
You didn't count on that
Geez, half the money's gone
The month is still young
Where are you gonna go now?
You gotta trust someone
Trust someone
Someone to trust.
Can't go to your brother
Cause that money's all gone
Can't go to your friends
Someday you'll find what you're looking for
Someday you'll find everything you're looking for
Someday you'll find everything you're looking for
Someday you'll find everything you're looking for, yeah
Made out like a bandit for so many years
What're you looking for?
One more big score?
What're you trying to prove?
Try to get closer but not too close
(Try to get past it but not too far past it)
Try to get through but not be through
No one can touch you now
No one can touch you now
I can touch you now
(Nobody can see you now But I can see you)
You're invisible, you've got too many secrets
Bob Dylan said that
Or something like that
Someday you'll find what you're looking for
Someday you'll find everything you're looking for
Someday you'll find everything you're looking for

this song just fits in with the whole Greendale story. its about the cousin i think? i can't remember which family member its about, but he's all depressed cause he can't sell his paintings and he hasn't gotten a job since he returned from war.
personally, i think this is the best song from the Greendale album. so mellow and hopeful.
this song is beautiful and my fav one from the Greendale album. It means a lot to be. so many people are in this character's situation in which they're in deep shit and don't know where to run but keep hoping that things will get better. This song is very important to the whole Greendale concept album
This is definately my favourite and most listened to song by Neil Young! I don't know what it is about it, but ya :P
I think this song is about someone who isnt really a bad person leading a life of crime. This person lives outside of society, but Neil is saying that in a way he was just like this person, and eventually they will find what they need to do with their life. Eventually he will discover what is really important and his life will change..
to me, this song symbolizes the very concept of hope. no matter how bad your current situation, it's all gonna be alright some day. i heard it first in a car in the middle of the night, on the way home from a great concert (bonnie prince billy), and everyone got very quiet and listened. it deeply moved me then - and still does.
This song almost brings a tear to my eye because of how much I can relate to its meaning. Pure art.
Saw this one during the GREENDALE tour. I imagine this was the first time hearing these songs by most of the people because it was all brand new. I have never experienced 20,000 people so quiet at one time, just Neil playing acoustic guitar. Completely mesmorizing.
I Love It When He Says "You're Invisible, You've Got Too Many Secrets. Bob Dylan Said That. Something Like That."
Funny As Hell!
What Bob Dylan Actually Said Is: "You're Invisible Now, You've Got Secrets To Conceal!" It's From His Song "Like A Rolling Stone"
But Anyways, I Love Bob And Neil, And "Like A Rolling Stone" Is My Favorite Song Of Bobs, And This Is My Favorite Song Of Neils. As I've Seen It's Been A Lot Of Peoples' Who've Commented Above. You All Have Good Taste! (and bobdylaniscool, you probably have GREAT taste!)
You're right that he's referring to Like a Rolling Stone. But what Dylan actually sang was: <i>"You're invisible now, you got <b>no</b> secrets to conceal."</i>

Neil Young was very open about how much he owed to Dylan. And Dylan's thrown the odd reference to Young into his later songs.
Really nice references to Dylan's work, azkm. It is fascinating to witness two artists acknowledging and playing off each other's work.
