Ignoring June, July, and August Lyrics

Verse:
These are the words you ran away from
Girl, you made a bad choice
It’s not like I had to know where you were
I just wanted to know
You needed to hear my voice

And heaven forbid
You forget about the way we held each other
Through December and the rest of winter
Isn’t this the way
Forever should feel....

Chorus:
I swear it happens every summer
The need for warmth fades away
You’ll no longer need me to hold
Now that you are burning up

I just hope you remember
A winter so hard to forget
When all we’d need to live
Was each other

Verse:
These are the words you ran away from
Girl, you left your safest place
It’s not that I followed you everywhere
I just needed to see your face

I guess I just
Wanted to remind you
That, I am, in fact, still alive
And will live for you
Until I die

Chorus

Verse:
It’s getting warmer
And I’m getting farther
Away from you

(Repeat 3 more times)

Chorus

Oh, irony. June, July, August where was the singer? Toss in September, October, and November, too. Yet magically a year or three later this time it will be different. 'You forget the way we held each other" is a confusing line; I'm unfamilar with its meaning."You needed to hear my voice" pehaps only during times of trouble....only. Good enough then but only then and hidden away. Interesting song. Fascinating that nobody's commented until now. Not really.
