It's No Game (Part 2) Lyrics
Silhouettes and shadows watch the revolution
No more free steps to heaven
Just walkie-talkie - heaven or hearth
Just big heads and drums - full speed and pagan
And it's no game
I am barred from the event
I really don't understand the situation
So where's the moral
People have their fingers broken
To be insulted by these fascists it's so degrading
And it's no game
Documentaries on refugees, couples 'gainst the target
Throw a rock against the road, and it breaks into pieces
Draw the blinds on yesterday, and it's all so much scarier
Put a bullet in my brain, and it makes all the papers
And it's no game
Children round the world, put camel shit on the walls
They're making carpets on treadmills, or garbage sorting
And it's no game
No more free steps to heaven
Just walkie-talkie - heaven or hearth
Just big heads and drums - full speed and pagan
And it's no game
I really don't understand the situation
So where's the moral
People have their fingers broken
To be insulted by these fascists it's so degrading
And it's no game
Throw a rock against the road, and it breaks into pieces
Draw the blinds on yesterday, and it's all so much scarier
Put a bullet in my brain, and it makes all the papers
They're making carpets on treadmills, or garbage sorting

ok, ummm i think this song means that all the horrible things that are happening in the world that we watch on TV and read about in the papers are real and we need to pay attention to them. It's no game. It's really happening.
btw, for those of you who read the artemis fowl books, this is artemis fowl II's fave song & butlers fave is i still haven't found what i'm looking for, by u2.
My guess is a theme that's throughout most of these songs which is the new generations coming up behind you and seeming to act totally different to how you think it should all be. Maybe you spent all your time trying to figure it all out and before you know it, there's a change of the guard and all your thoughts you tried to impose on the world are seemingly irrelevant. Basically that grumpy bastard feeling you have towards 15 year olds, I reckon maybe for Bowie there could have been an angle of his fame and stature which is ignored by the new wave of artists coming through.

So what are the tapping sounds at the end of this song? At first I thought maybe it was the sound of typing on a typewriter as in, "it makes all the papers". But then again, i don't know.
