Give Unto Me Lyrics
I've been watching you from a distance
The distance sees through your disguise
All I want from you is your hurting
I want to heal you
I want to save you from the dark
Give unto me your troubles
I'll endure your suffering
Place onto me your burden
I'll drink your deadly poison
Why should I care if they hurt you
Somehow it matters more to me
Than if I were hurting myself
Save you (save you)
I'll save you
Give unto me your troubles
I'll endure your suffering
Place onto me your burden
I'll drink your deadly poison
Fear not the flame of my love's candle
Let it be the sun in your world of darkness
Give unto me all that frightens you
I'll have your nightmares for you
If you sleep soundly
Give unto me your troubles
I'll endure your suffering
Place onto me your burden
I'll drink your deadly poison
Fear not the flame of my love's candle
Let it be the sun in your world of darkness
Give unto me all that frightens you
I'll have your nightmares for you
If you sleep soundly
Fear not the flame of my love's candle
Let it be the sun in your world of darknes
The distance sees through your disguise
All I want from you is your hurting
I want to heal you
I want to save you from the dark
I'll endure your suffering
Place onto me your burden
I'll drink your deadly poison
Somehow it matters more to me
Than if I were hurting myself
Save you (save you)
I'll save you
I'll endure your suffering
Place onto me your burden
I'll drink your deadly poison
Let it be the sun in your world of darkness
Give unto me all that frightens you
I'll have your nightmares for you
If you sleep soundly
I'll endure your suffering
Place onto me your burden
I'll drink your deadly poison
Let it be the sun in your world of darkness
Give unto me all that frightens you
I'll have your nightmares for you
If you sleep soundly
Let it be the sun in your world of darknes

One of my favorite evanescence songs.... one that i can relate too
This is such a pretty song, yet so depressing. Is it true that this song was Amy and Ben's first song they wrote together?
@DyerMaker21 No, Amy wrote this by herself. She was only 14 and had written it for her classical piano class.

I dont see how this song reflects god in anyway, but to each his\her own, Blessed Be
@escence The impression that I got is that it’s supposed to be from the perspective of Jesus.

haunting music, love the piano solo, beautiful and depressing at the same time. THis has nothing to do with god I don't know where you came up with that but Adularia has the generals down
I got it bc thats what it means to me, like its the voice of God saying that he will take my pain and suffering away and I cant hide from him. Just as Christ bore our sin with the cross, the song says, "Place onto me your burdens" but I also do see it as a love song. Its how I feel about the girl I like too.
To answer DyerMaker 21's question (that they asked like what, 8 months ago?) yes, this is one of the first songs Amy and Ben wrote together. This and Understanding got played on the local radio station a lot, and the rest is history.
This means to me that they love this person so much they would do anything, anything for them, to stop them from feeling any pain.
This song is so beautiful. Its talking about being so in love with someone and them not even knowing it. They would give up anythin for you and you barely even know them.
I really don't see this religiously, but as escence said, to each his own... I see this as being so obsessed with the person you love that you'd rather die than see them in pain. Or perhaps just being so depressed, you'd rather be hurt than see others in pain. It feels justified that way, as though you deserve to be hurt and they don't.
As I said though, to each his/her own. Music is meant to invoke emotion in you, to inspire ideas. You perceive it as you like, however it strikes a chord with your soul.
I'm listening to this right now.It sounds really moving and I love the part where Amy sings:"Why should I care if they hurt you.Somehow it matters more to me than if I were hurting myself."I like the piano at the begginning too
