Wow, what a beautiful song. Pure genius. I won't lie, I get a bit emotional each time I hear it. Obviously it's about someone in love. He feels a deep connection to this girl, but doesn't understand why. They have nothing in common, she's obviously using him, and he knows it.
The verse that begins: "But I'm not looking for a love that lasts..." is his denial. He knows that he shouldn't be so attached. He's only going to get hurt, and so he tells himself that he doesn't care. He does though, and no matter how much he tries, he can't say no to her.
Love is a crazy thing and this song is just a reminder that we're prisoners to our emotions. sigh

OMG! another of my favorite Foreigner songs. I love this song. This song is about a couples love being infatuation or lust but in a way they are deeply in love because they are always there for each other even if both are just being used. We cant hide what we feel. LOVE IT!

@RockNRollJen - As an amateur musician who LOVES saxophone music, the sax solo is what originally attracted me to this song. I love Foreigner and this is one of my favorite songs of all time. The saxophonist on the record is Jr. Walker, by the way.
