An inquisitive mind
Will always tune into the world beyond,
Curiously you'll find yourself
Observing it all with intrigue
So keep a close eye,
Such a detailed awareness
Helps you to feel alive...
You're always watching,
But it's only watching.
This voice, so confident,
Proud of chanting opinions
Stuck in his verbal crusade
Ranting an invented position,
You're only ever a witness
To what you want to see,
You're glorifying this misperception.
So in love with the sound of your own voice
And why? You would talk for eternity,
The watcher runs with the circles of his debate,
And in the end, what's been achieved?
So fill your head with what you think you understand.
My ears grow tired
Of listening to this constant recital
Lend yourself only when it suits,
For this worthy cause, for this worthy cause
Feed the elevation that you so desperately, so desperately...
In all these words in which you preach
I would have thought you'd act,
But you're sitting too comfortably
In a land so distant,
Watching for entertainment...
And in this voice of confidence
Too proud to admit flawed opinions,
Bound to his verbal crusade
Preaching his invented position,
These tones will always deceive the unfamiliar
Still glorifying your misperception.
So in love with the sound of your own voice
And why? You would talk for eternity,
The watcher runs with the circles of his debate,
And in the end, what's been achieved?
Will always tune into the world beyond,
Curiously you'll find yourself
Observing it all with intrigue
So keep a close eye,
Such a detailed awareness
Helps you to feel alive...
You're always watching,
But it's only watching.
Proud of chanting opinions
Stuck in his verbal crusade
Ranting an invented position,
You're only ever a witness
To what you want to see,
You're glorifying this misperception.
And why? You would talk for eternity,
The watcher runs with the circles of his debate,
And in the end, what's been achieved?
Of listening to this constant recital
Lend yourself only when it suits,
For this worthy cause, for this worthy cause
Feed the elevation that you so desperately, so desperately...
I would have thought you'd act,
But you're sitting too comfortably
In a land so distant,

Too proud to admit flawed opinions,
Bound to his verbal crusade

Sikth is so wonderful. But mostly I think they're not very good lyrically. This song, however is an exception. One of my favorite songs to sing, too.
Personally I think the lyrics are extremely clever in all of their songs..My fave song off the album, this one.
"some people try too hard to involve themselves in the lives of others, this song is about them..."
Justin Hill, Sikth
Wonderful... there is noone here in sweden who ever had heard about Sikth... well, feels lika that. Anyway I love them! And this song is amazing. Not the best but... beautiful.
Anyone seen the video? It's very weird. Not entirely sure what it is about...
This describes my friend perfectly. He has an opinion on everything and anyone, but never acts on it. He just rants, and watches, and thinks he understands.
Certainly there are also religious allusions in this song, what with the inclusion of the words "crusade", "preaching", "glorifying". Pretty obvious what it's saying. Long live Sikth...oh that's right, they broke up. Sad times.
I think this song goes to the Press and media. since they're only a witness to what they want to see as they're glorifying the misperception with the "circles" of their debates, as if there's nothing achieved in the end. And by the time our ears are growing tired of listening to their constant recitals, as if all they do is watching for entertainment through their own distant land.
