Three Girl Rhumba Lyrics
divide it by two.
Something is nothing.
Nothing is nothing.
Open a box,
tear off the lid,
then think of a number,
don't think an answer.
Open your eyes,
think of a number,
don't get sweapt under,
a number's a number.
you want to avoid:
the inevitable.
so ya do,
oh yes ya do,
the impossible.
you just wanna rhumba,
and there ain't no way you're gonna go under
its about infidelity
No, it's about how you can't dance with half a girl.
No, it's about how you can't dance with half a girl.
SuicideNow, I spoke to Colin Newman when I posted that in 2007. Rhumba in this case doesn't denote dancing. It is about infidelity.

The first time I took acid, this song was playing just before it came on...made a lot of sense. Boxes, numbers, infinity...ah, I dunno. A lot of post-punk stuff (paticularly Wire and Talking Heads) seems to have elements of examining the LSD experience from a more realist perspective than 60's/70's psychedelia.
OMG no comments? This song is awesome but does it have a meaning?
themagnetc: the text is correct, the singer actually says:"don't think of an answer"
the meaning???
It's meditative punk. Try to take yourself away from a situation you're thinking or fretting about. Get up from out of your own arse and enjoy what you have, not what you have not.
what's interesting and might gets you into another perception of the song, at least to me, is that it sounds like he's sayin' ''Think of her no more''
dressed2depressed...i don't think your comment really helped the cause at all.
i think there's a flaw in the lyrics up there. i think it should be "don't think of a letter", instead of, "don't think of an answer."
i can't figure out where the girl comes from in the title. "three" probably comes from thinking of a number and "rhumba" from the penultimate line
