Death To Traitors Lyrics
A line drawn in the sand,
and we both know
I'm not about to bury myself.
Sinking in my footsteps,
but not coming up for air.
A firm foundation of beating hearts
is blistering enough on the sruface.
Closing in and holding out my breath
hoping to mend the wounds
opened by years of digging out.
We fight fire with fire
and you'll run back to your
circle of friends.
They won't help you now.
We drew a line in the sand
and this time it's now or never.
Go ahead, burn your bridges
but only if you can swim
deep in the sea of disbelief.
This time your screams won't be heard.
You will fight this battle
but we'll take you out so quickly
that you and your so-called army
couldn't see us coming.
Fight this battle.
We'll tear you down to the ground.
We can't stop now.
We were born for battle,
without vision we will die.
We were born for battle,
against the tide of compromise.
There is life in this.
The places so close can take you so far.
We won't trust our eyes to keep us there.
and we both know
I'm not about to bury myself.
Sinking in my footsteps,
but not coming up for air.
A firm foundation of beating hearts
is blistering enough on the sruface.
Closing in and holding out my breath
hoping to mend the wounds
opened by years of digging out.
We fight fire with fire

Man, Beloved is one of the most talented bands I've ever heard. The perfect mix of melodic rock 'n roll with heavy, kick-ass hardcore breakdowns and a drummer with one hell of a death vox. This song is my favorite, but Failure On is one of those albums you can listen to without skipping a single track. I saw them with Stretch Arm Strong, Comeback Kid, and Evergreen Terrace. Great show.
about the typical back stabbing friend
i saw them with norma jean, haste the day, dead poetic (solid state tour), very powerful show, they really bring the crowd together and they deserve respect
Beloved is one hell of a band...I live down the road from the bassist actually. They're one of my band's influences...look out for us

i envy dawnofreckoning for having been to thier show, i have been listening to them and looking for shows forever and just found out they broke up. im angry. this song is pretty deep and to say its a typical backstabbing friend does it some injustice. the term born for battle implies something bigger than fighting friends. beloved is a christian band so the battle in this sense is not against bad friends but non christian friends who bring up an argument that coulndt hold water: thus "you will fight this battle but we'll take you out so quickly that you and your so-called army cant see us coming."
recently i was asked how the battle was going, and i said what battle? they replied the battle of life. yes it is the battle of life we were born for, whether we surrender and go with the world or fight on the side(we already know is going to win) is a choice we all must make.
absolutely the best song on the Failure On, though every song is great. Beloved is an amazing band. quite depressing that they broke up..
this IS a cool song indeed. first off, i really like the whole "beach.. tide.. sand" metaphor running through that
the lyrics that stuck out to me the most were: We were born for battle, without vision we will die. We were born for battle, against the tide of compromise.
How crazy is it that we float through our lives so often not recognizing that we are not just here "just because" but we have a purpose we have a point to our lives, "without vision we will die," so many days i am just lazy and waste my days away. what is the point of that?..we were born for battle.
due to the fact that the lyrics say "against the tide of comprimise" i would interpret this to be talking about the way someone is called to live as they are following Christ. everything Christ taught was so paradox to normal thought- love those who hate you, put yourself last not first,- also-- paul, an apostle (an old dude in the Bible) said "to live is Christ to die is gain... is that not against the tide of comprimise? without vision we will die, you guys.
in regards to the rest of the lyrics, they are awesome, i just wished to comment on my favorite, i would love to hear some more opinions on the song.
brilliant
"The places so close can take you so far." Beautiful line. And i agree that it's abou more than the "typical back stabbing friend"...
and it's "is blistering enough on the surface."...
