Force Field Lyrics

Today's escape will consist of a mask
I found it in a bargain bin, why do you ask?
Rosy cheeks and a smile
There's no shame in my game of denial
Don't you touch, move along, keep your hands inside
Ask enough from afar, enjoy the ride
It don't get much better than this
There's the riff, here's the hook, where's the myth?

Manning my station
Taking control of the situation
Say hello to my force field

Beaten down on all fours, and they stare as they pass
Please don't feed or provoke, or tap on the glass
Bet you never felt quite like that
You could say don't complain where I'm at

Manning my station
Taking control of the situation
Say hello to my force field

You won't see me cry
You won't see me die

The escapade still exists of the task
Of pulling off a miracle out of my ass
It don't get much better than that
A savvy fox, a loyal dog, a sunny cat

Manning my station
Taking control of the situation
Say hello to my force field
Say hello to my force field

*"I found it in a BARGAIN bin" not "I found it in a parking bin" Reminds me of adulthood and getting stressed out but having to go forward. Putting up all these different fronts, protective fronts, professional fronts, casual friend fronts, etc.

I'm honestly surprised nobody commented on this yet!! Out of any Smash Mouth song, this is my absolute FAVORITE. :) It always got me through my sad days.

"You won't see me cry You wont' see me die"

Is what got me so inspired back then.

Hearing this the other day, I thought of being a zoo animal and trying to escape.

Deer lord have I been listening to this song so much lately. I know it was released in 2001, but man does it feel so appropriate for right now. The bargain bin mask, don\'t touch, keep your distance, and don\'t tap the glass feel way more on the mark for living in a post covid world. I just picture a poor "essential worker" trying to keep it together while they stand behind plexiglass(or their forcefield) while they are forced to deal with the Karen of the world.
