You And Me Lyrics
Open up your eyes
See how life time flies
Open up and let the light back in.
Open up your heart
Let the loving start
Open up and let the light back in.
I was thinking of you and me
Making' love beneath the tree
And now I wonder could it be.
Thinking 'bout the times we had
Some were good and some were bad
Guitar fighting' the TV.
I was thinking 'bout you and me
I was thinking 'bout you and me
I was thinking of you and me
I was thinking 'bout you and me.
Looking at you just the other night
Dancing' in the evening light
True love conquers all.
Old man sitting there
Touch of gray, but he don't care
When he hears his children call.
I was thinking 'bout you and me
I was thinking 'bout you and me
I was thinking 'bout you and me
I was thinking 'bout you and me.
Open up your eyes
See how life time flies
Open up and let the light back in.
See how life time flies
Open up and let the light back in.
Let the loving start
Open up and let the light back in.
Making' love beneath the tree
And now I wonder could it be.
Some were good and some were bad
Guitar fighting' the TV.
I was thinking 'bout you and me
I was thinking of you and me
I was thinking 'bout you and me.
Dancing' in the evening light
True love conquers all.
Touch of gray, but he don't care
When he hears his children call.
I was thinking 'bout you and me
I was thinking 'bout you and me
I was thinking 'bout you and me.
See how life time flies
Open up and let the light back in.

love this part of the song: "Thinking 'bout the times we had Some were good and some were bad Guitar fighting' the TV." specifically the part where he says Guitar fighting the tv. shame there isnt any other posts for such a beautiful song.
Definitely agree, gives me an instant strong sense of connection to Neil Young. Often if I'm playing guitar and singing, it's for the one I love whether I announce such a thing or not, and it breaks your heart just a little if she turns on the tv halfway through...

Beautiful song. I think it's about relationships, and looking back over time at the time spent together with your partner. "True love conquers all." I would also say that it's about life in general, and how time passes so quickly, and it's important to remember what really matters.
Neil Young, really, is sort of a New Age songwriter. Obviously he's "folk-rock" too, but there's a strong spiritual streak running through his songs This whole album (Harvest Moon) is very "spiritual" in the First Nations, shamanistic meaning of the word This is one of his better albums, I feel, and this is a great song. Agree with floydian18, too "guitar fightin' the TV" isa great line.
I think this song is about truely being happy with your life and the love you have for you family. All couples have hard times and disagrements, but if the love is real like he says "true love conqours all". He is very happy with his life with Peggy and his children. Neil has much pride for his family. As time has crept up on Neil and the grey has started to show he knows that his relationship with his family is truely wonderful. He is telling us all that life goes by fast and don't let the hard times get in the way. "True love conquors all"
One of my very favorite Neil Young acoustic songs. Just gorgeous. I think Neil is talking about he and his wife, Peggy, and the ups and downs of a marriage. But the key is that indeed "true love conquors all." I always considered "You And Me" the emotional center of HARVEST MOON. Just a beautiful, vulnerable song.
