Talking Of Michelangelo Lyrics
The sidewalk's cracked and dirty face
Is looking up from underneath my feet.
It's staring at the hallow, broken boy.
Who's lost and wandering these same old streets.
And every night I wander here alone,
A night that we won't meet.
I wonder when, when I'll finally understand,
Why time can wash away love like,
It was made of sand.
And it's wonderful
The pain that comes with regret.
Sometimes you have to see the beauty,
In all of this loneliness
The streetlights flicker, then they fade,
Like every good intention that I've had,
And every face that passes through my mind.
And I'll be struggling with these same old dreams.
Until the concrete turns to sand,
And I'm swept up by the waves
There's only so many chances that you get
To do something that's this important.
Now I'd rather sink than swim.
Sewer grates keep spitting up their steam,
Exhaling all the broken dreams I've flushed away.
And I wonder when, when I'll bow out,
Wash me away like I was made of sand,
And it's wonderful, it's wonderful.
Is looking up from underneath my feet.
It's staring at the hallow, broken boy.
Who's lost and wandering these same old streets.
And every night I wander here alone,
A night that we won't meet.
Why time can wash away love like,
It was made of sand.
And it's wonderful
The pain that comes with regret.
Sometimes you have to see the beauty,
In all of this loneliness
Like every good intention that I've had,
And every face that passes through my mind.
And I'll be struggling with these same old dreams.
Until the concrete turns to sand,
And I'm swept up by the waves
To do something that's this important.
Now I'd rather sink than swim.
Sewer grates keep spitting up their steam,
Exhaling all the broken dreams I've flushed away.
Wash me away like I was made of sand,
And it's wonderful, it's wonderful.

such a wonderful song... sometimes you DO have to see the beauty in all of the loneliness.

Another Bayside song to fix... its not "sooner grace came speeding up and steemed"... it's "sewer grates keep spitting out their steam"
www.myspace.com/indireneed "If Finch, Thursday, and Senses Fail had a 3-way, In Dire Need would be their love child"
okay, i've got a correction to make too... the proper line is "wash away love like it was made of sand" not "the right"... and by the way, why can i never find tabs for this song?
i don't know if there's a connection but the title Talking of Michelangelo, is also repeated several times in the T.S. Eliot poem The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock. i just found in more than conicidental that this happend, i don't think Talking of Michelangelo is a common phrase unless i'm mistaken., btw awesome song

I came on here to bring up that point; I'm glad someone else has seen it. There definately has to be a connection. The poem and song have many similarites. I showed the lyrics to my ap english teacher and she freaked. We listened to the song in class, after just studying it. This connection makes an this already awesome song even greater. http://www.cs.amherst.edu/~ccm/prufrock.html
You were in AP English and you didn't know how to spell "definitely"?

There's also a song by Outsmarting Simon called Hub City Hookers with the lyrics "i watched the women come and go, they spoke of michelangelo"
Seeing the title of this song actually made me buy the cd when it came out. I adore Eliot and now I adore Bayside. I'm so excited for the new cd.
I think this song and Prufrock are similar because in this song, there's mention to how he is about to do something important, but would rather sink than swim.
In Prufrock, the narrator is about to ask an important question, but he is full of insecurity, so he chooses not to. And at the end, he imagines himself walking on the beach and he "drowns."
There are connections, definitely.
I like this song and I'm reluctantly becoming a fan of Bayside, the vocalist has a very melodic voice.
When I first heard this song I didn't like it but now I'm in love with it. It makes me want to get up and jump around. It makes me feel really good! Yeah I'm weird but I can't help it, I really like this song.
If you watch the bonus material from 'Sirens and Condolences', Andrew Elderbaum states he wrote this song about the poem 'The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock'. Hell, he states what was the basis for all of the songs on the album.
