Gentle Time

Turner's vocals sound really creepy in this song. i love it. no clue what the song means though.

Most of Isis' songs you really can not decipher the meaning of there songs, which is one of the reasons I love this band. Celestial was there first there first CD they ever released. It is hard, melodic and expresses the first true atmospheric feel to it, which is followed by Oceanic and Panopticon. This song to me is yet another confusing song it is probably explaining a state of tranquility that is found in a gentler time that most people can not encounter and this is seen in the lines I have been high, still can’t see and the last stanza where he says our intensions spilt their cocoon, which is probably defining that this is a place where not everyone feels great, but they try to become one with the place, or something along those lines.

Walrus, Mosquito Control is ISIS' first release, actually. Then followed The Red Sea (Very much of the HC type music than what ISIS is now). THEN came Celestial.

This song has a great groove to it, lots of dense atmosphere.

i know that this isn't the theme or concept to this album. but this song made me thing of vampires feeding on blood, one way in, meaning that they gotta keep on feeding. they feel high when they are satisfied w/ blood. and they have to feed their cocoon. that this way of living might be hallow but that its the only way. they want some type of gentle time, a better way of living, w/ more meaning to it than just living to be fed and to feed. this song is so freaking good, i just love it.

Well i think cocoon is a huge play here. Reference to our way if life as is now. Most have and are given what we need ( hive is fed) but yet feel empty, searching to be whole ( fill my soul). We all believe there is only one way to happyness , through external gain or monetary ( one way in) . But after having " it all" there is still no end . The path is no more clearer or enlightening. The second "verse " if we call it that, at first appears to me to speak about self pleasure sexually but isnt tied down to just that. Something that feels good even tho its detrimental to your well being.. feeling empty and disconnected (hollowing) but drawing you in ( dares my soul). The sense of choas and destruction that ensues is the cocoon self imploding . The utopia we tried to build has instead collapsed ( inventions split cocoon) and after the dust settles , we will finally have a "gentle time".
