1,000 Eyes Lyrics
Crossing the line into the other side
Emerging as prisoners
To the emptiness of time
To the left and to the right
From behind - they're out of sight
Plunging into a new found
Age of advanced observeillance
A worldwide, foolproof cage
Privacy and intimacy as we know it
Will be a memory
Among many to be passed down
To those who never knew
Living in the pupil of 1,000 eyes
Was it overlooked in front of all our faces?
Now, all the mistakes and secrets
Cannot be erased
Viewing the blind complexity
By which laws were justified
To erase simplicity
To the left and to the right
From behind, they're out of sight
Plunging into a new found
Age of advanced observeillance
A worldwide, foolproof cage
Privacy and intimacy as we know it
Will be a memory
Among many to be passed down
To those who never knew
Living in the pupil of 1,000 eyes
We are enslaved now...
Emerging as prisoners
To the emptiness of time
From behind - they're out of sight
Plunging into a new found
Age of advanced observeillance
A worldwide, foolproof cage
Will be a memory
Among many to be passed down
To those who never knew
Now, all the mistakes and secrets
Cannot be erased
By which laws were justified
To erase simplicity
From behind, they're out of sight
Plunging into a new found
Age of advanced observeillance
A worldwide, foolproof cage
Will be a memory
Among many to be passed down
To those who never knew

i believe that this song is about how our rights (invasion of privacy) are being exploited. how there are cameras in a lot of places that there shouldn't be not just in stores. and how everything we say could be recorded and it's just ruining our freedom toatally.
@predeadman It's amazing how correct he was

Yes, indeed. I agree. I think it's about a near future, though.
"Privacy and intimacy as we know it Will be a memory Among many to be passed down To those who never knew"
To me, that's basically saying that cameras and other stuff that threatens our privacy/intimacy is proliferating.
"Privacy and intimacy as we know it Will be a memory Among many to be passed down To those who never knew"
When everything we do is no longer private, we may fight back, but what about the generations after us who never knew of the solace in privacy because they never had it. What will they be able to do then?
Chuck, in the 90s foresaw a time when privacy was compromised by "security" - something that few understood at the time...and all this insight coming from a 23 year old "kid". Quite amazing words and even better music from an amazing person.
@eusedhe even more parts of this song become true ..this and mentally blind pretty much is a discription of what is wrong in the world today ..also lack of comprehension

Either conform or keep fighting, since they'd know previous generations did, too.
We're already being watched close enough anyway. Did you know every e-mail you send is being read by the US government? And every phone call you make, as well.
Man, you gotta love the drumming in the chorus, Gene Hoglan is insane. And so is Richard Christy.
I believe this song is about our future and how we will be watched, or how we feel we are being watched. There are no secrets..
Read 1984.
This song is definitely a great one, as it deals with privacy issues, and more destruction of our constitutional freedoms by the government. Big brother is watching, but with more sophisticated technology than ever imagined. I don't think Chuck meant for just 500 people to be watching. There's more than that! The chorus of "Living in the pupil of 1000 eyes" is played with such blazing speed! I think the whole "Symbolic" album was Death's best band lineup ever!
This song was a reference to the Illuminati and how they are taking away our rights to turn us against each other and how theyre always watching us and yet we cant see them "to the left and to the right from behind theyre out of sight" he is also saying in his song how we are all slaves and dont know it we live in a world with worthless paper for currency that only creates debt thus enslaving us to its monetary system. Chuck had it all figured out he was trying to tell us without saying too much telling us to free our minds and wake up in his words "WE ARE ENSLAVED NOW!!"
Noone is right, men. This song is about internet and danger it offers to humanity. These lines emphasize my hypothesis: Plunging into a new found Age of advanced observeillance A worldwide, foolproof cage (in other words - w.w.w.) ................ Privacy and intimacy as we know it Will be a memory
