i'm questioning my education
is my education who i am now?
while you're deciding, i've been finding
looking around in the here and now
if i've been taught from the beginning
would my fears now by winning?
i'm questioning my own equation
is my own equation relevant somehow?
the flags are waving, the news is breaking
see the man who can't pick out his own tie
if i've been taught from the beginning
would my fears now be winning?
a wild world, figuring out the answers
i'll be in my own dance and iiii...
i'm questioning my education
rewind and what does it show?
could be, the truth it becomes you
i'm a seed, wondering why it grows
is my education who i am now?
while you're deciding, i've been finding
looking around in the here and now
if i've been taught from the beginning
would my fears now by winning?
i'm questioning my own equation
is my own equation relevant somehow?
the flags are waving, the news is breaking
see the man who can't pick out his own tie
if i've been taught from the beginning
would my fears now be winning?
a wild world, figuring out the answers
i'll be in my own dance and iiii...
i'm questioning my education
rewind and what does it show?
could be, the truth it becomes you
i'm a seed, wondering why it grows

I don't know, maybe he thinks everyone is different and that education isnt really going to make them react in the world the way it's meant to?
This song incorporates a tribal style drumbeat that is very, out of place feeling from the Binaural sessions....... which tended to be more .....Technical?...... not styled like this song.....
It's a shame Matt Cameron doesnt try to bust this sort of thing out more often, I miss Pearl Jam's tribal side....
anyways, this song is about the road to enlightenment or the journey there..... as you head on to NIRVANA you begin take a look at your values or beliefs..... you will begin to question their meanings and relevance to your current situation.....
Questioning the learned behaviors you practice..... or questioning your education.....
the flags are waving the news is breakin see the man who cant pick out his own tie ^this that as the world turns new thigns are happening to be learned all the time..... but when you shut your mind off to learnign you become a drone who basically goes to work unhappy thoughtlessly, he's too dumb to pick out his own tie
Rewinding what does it show: in retrospect you look at what you've learned and learn from your hindsight..... you learn things about yourself
It could be the truth it becomes you I am a seed wondering why it grows... ^once you open your mind up to true knowledge it becomes a part of who you are, nirvana, enlightenment, and you are left knowing much more than you started out...... being a seed wondering why it grows implies that though you have attained this vast state over most others... you still have one hell of a way to go, still are fragile and growing....
Unhappiness at work, with fate, wealth, love and/or midlife crisis seem to be a Trademark for the Binaural Album and recording sessions......
That life becomes boring and repetitititiitititiitive slowed or toned down...... most of the Binaural songs are slower and the others are repetive slightly
In retrospect this song is about how keeping your brain turned on will make you happier than turning it off..
Just to simplify, i know nothing about nirvana, plenty about the band, but nothing about the being or state of mind....
Some day though.... hopefully....
I love this song, but it's probably for the wrong reason. I had to make a decision concerning my future education, and I didn't know what to do. It's always better to look to yourself and find the answer than to let somebody else persuade you into something.
Basically he's saying that what society teaches us isn't right. It's saying that you should question what you're taught before you follow it..."I'm a see, wondering why I grow." That line's so great to me, because, in essense that's all we are. The world prospers by trying to find a purpose. What society taches us is to follow what we've been taught, but what society teaches us, atleast American society, is to live in fear. Peace is a lost concept it seems. Anyways, I'm just rambling now. I absolutely love this song.
The "I'm a seed wonderin why it grows!" part gets me everytime!
