Walnut Tree Lyrics
Once there was a great storm,
Pushed my head beneath the waves,
I was gone.
Underneath the walnut tree,
Where you said you'd wait for me,
And I waited a long, long time
I waited a long, long time,
I waited a long, long time,
I waited a long, long time,
I waited a long, long time.
Why, why do I come here?
Seeking out the memories I handed,
'Cause you put your spell on me,
Made me live a memory,
And im frozen in just the wrong time.
I waited a long, long time,
I waited a long, long time,
I waited a long, long time,
I waited a long, long time.
Pushed my head beneath the waves,
I was gone.
Where you said you'd wait for me,
And I waited a long, long time
I waited a long, long time,
I waited a long, long time,
I waited a long, long time.
Seeking out the memories I handed,
'Cause you put your spell on me,
Made me live a memory,
And im frozen in just the wrong time.
I waited a long, long time,
I waited a long, long time,
I waited a long, long time.

WELL that's my meaning and understanding
Kanita.
I love the idea that this is a ghost story like the movie "The Others", in which a man died in a storm at sea and his ghost has returned to the place of his greatest passion in life - under the Walnut Tree. He continues to wait for his love there, not quite aware that he is a ghost (like Bruce Willis in "Sixth Sense") and since the woman he loves passed from this life centuries ago, he will continue his endless waiting. The song probably doesn't mean that at all, but the piano is appropriately haunting for a ghost story, don't you think?
I definitely agree! It makes sense when you listen to the lyrics.

love the violin-like instruments in the beginning. good song, great lyrics
found it through The OC. SETH SO HOT>>but yeah not to proud of their lyrics at least in this song but i do think this band just sets this mello tone that kinda puts you in a trans and some times just lulls you to sleep.
i love keane. i love the piano in this song.
another example of the OC's awsome music;>
"seeking out the memories I hold dear"... (correction)
oc mix 2 has a lot of songs that you can just fall asleep to, but in a good way. like if i can't fall asleep i play this cd and especially this song and it just lulls you to sleep. at first i didn't like keane but they're growing on me! oc mixes are great.
I agree with the fall asleep thing. Its just so pretty. I think its about a love that was destined to beging, and for some reason it never did. And he waited...and waited
I love how Keane use metaphores, and brillaint language to describe things. I agree Kanita 100% on the meaning.
