Blame It On My Youth Lyrics

If, I expected love, when first we kissed, blame it on my youth
If only just for you, I did exist, blame it on my youth
I believed in everything
Like a child of three
You meant more than anything
You meant all the world to me

If, you were on my mind, all night and day, blame it on my youth
If, I forgot to eat, and sleep and pray, blame it on my youth
If I cried a little bit, when first I learned the truth
Don’t blame it on my heart, blame it on my youth

This is another one of those songs that is my life wrapped up in a lyric.

Maybe one day I'll grow up and won't be so naive.

This is one of the saddest songs I'be heard, espcially the lines: "I believed in everything Like a child of three". It just goes to show how much strong feelings of love/infatuation/confusion can strip away your innocence and leave you feeling very cynical.

While this song is considered a standard, and has been recorded a countless number of times throughout the years, Jamie makes it his own by providing an emotion of youthful sadness and pain. Which is exactly what the song needs.

No one sings it better.

I think it means that he put too much time into a girl that didn't really care for him. Then when she left, he was crushed. Just my thought on it.

I have nothing more to add on my interpretation of this song. It really is just about being naive and loving someone as much as you knew how, and they did not reciprocate the feeling.
