Southern Sun Lyrics
Piece by piece
I release
once was mine
now undone
turned blue like New
Orleans
and went down like
a southern sun
I still feel you
beneath my skin
I am tempted
to throw my senses in
'cos its easier to fly
than to face another night in southern sun
and your love is all around
(x2)
in the air to set me free
set me free
you last like a song
I'm deflated
I am pieces on the wind
unrelated
I still feel you
beneath my skin
I am tempted
to throw my senses in
'cos its easier to fly
than to face another night in southern sun
and your love is all around
in the air to set me free
set me free
'cos its easier to fly
set me free
I release
once was mine

turned blue like New
Orleans
and went down like
a southern sun
I still feel you

'cos its easier to fly

The DJ Tiesto lyrics read this:
'Cause it's easier to have dreamt Than to find somewhere I feel sincerity And our truth comes back around In the air, tonight for me, tonight for me
Though I initially thought it was sung as "..easier to drown" too.
Really well mixing of mood with lyrics. Good song. There's also a radio cut version that I've heard, but never got hold of.
@brimspark When I first heard this song I was living in spain In the mountains,me and my girlfriend had recently split up after a long relationship,so I was alone in this beautiful villa, can't explain the loneliness and the heartache I went through. Not long after I moved back to the UK. Because it was easier to fly, than to face another night of southern sun. The lyrics fitted my situation to the letter at the time. Song still breaks my heart...always end up in tears after listening to it..still an amazing song whatever or however it fits in your life.....

This song is about the liberation a girl feels during sex and surrendering her senses to passionate love. it's easier to share that intimacy with someone than to face another night alone, watching the sunrise.
its not about sex you idiot
its not about sex you idiot
This song and music is from another dimension. Extremely poignant, sad, depressing, and tear-jerking!
Carla Werner sings like as though she is Chinese or something because this feels like a traditional chinese song with chinese music to be honest.
There appear to be new / additional lyrics in the TILT Summer of Love Remix of this track. Does anyone know anything about these new / additional lyrics??

Oakenfold has said this song was composed about/in New Orleans -- sad, depressing lyrics with an uplifting chorus. I like the chorus sung in the Tiesto remix which show the song's vocal meaning: lost love.
'cause it's easier to drown than to find somewhere I feel sincerity
I think this song is about a girl who commits suicide because the guy she loved broke her heart.
I think by flying she means to be free from his love and her depressing life.
I dont find this song depressing at all. It is quite uplifting. Beautiful lyrics and music.
absolute wonderful, yes the song is really about the music, not the lyrics. but its not often you find a dance record with such mystical lyrics too, the 'southern sun' is just a metaphor for where you had the time of your life....
It's hard to make sense of. It sounds like the singer (Carla Werner, btw -- shame she doesn't generally receive credit) is talking about dissolving, but there's someone whose love is something solid, keeping her together. Or perhaps it is not solid but constant, something that will allow her to continue to exist once everything else falls away.

i love the music. and the lyrics.
