the first time i heard this song..it actually broke down..because this describes the relationship i had with my father. and when he passed i sat in the back of the church..and cried alone..

This song means so much to me. Though my relationship with my dad wasn't this bad, it was very rough and I often wondered if he really loved me at all. At 17 my mom died suddenly and I had to start living with my dad, things were really bad and he began drinking more then ever. I felt so alone, like nobody was with me or loved me. Driving home one day about a year or so later I heard this song on the radio. It had me crying through the first part, and when it hit that last verse I was bawling. This song saved me, I went straight home and prayed to God to please help me through everything, finding him as a last chance. Everytime I hear this song now it reminds me that I'm no longer alone.

I'm with poohbluesky He spent his whole life thinking no one loved him, because his relationship with his father seemed really bad, but at the funeral he finally found God.
I don't even like country musc that much, but this song makes me cry. It's obvious what it's about. I don't think it needs to be broken down. It's not Bohemian Rhapsody, really. It's a beautiful song. (And Jimmy Wayne is cute.)
Hey. i went to get smart - a christian youth conference- this year and we had reggie dabbs preaching (AMAZING) and he showed us this video/song and explained that he had been approched by jimmy wayne because reggie had inspired him to write this song, as he is the boy in the song he wrote. reggie, his mum was a prostitue and was the result of a 20dollar deal. he was adopted out, and always believed he wasnt loved, until he found god. so jimmy realised he should write this song - just background info for you.
btw - COMPLETELY broke down to this song - and my issue wasnt even to do with my dad or mum, it just relates to anyone who is maybe doubting their worth and feels unloved, that there is always someone there who loves you more than you could ever imagine.
