Lay Me On The Water Lyrics
Thinking about the water for a sign
Waiting for the moment to arise
I know that no man could ever fly
Just lay me on the water
Colors paint great pictures in my dreams
Shining of the rust that I have seen
But I don't need to show them to the world
Just lay me on the water
And the water has come
I'll just float
And if it's rough, and high
I'll pretend that I'm a boat
Lay me on the water
Oh, candy seems to roll off of my tongue
I view all good citizens as one
But I don't feel like leading some campaign
Just lay me on the water
And the water has come
I'll just float
And if it's rough, and high
I'll pretend that I'm a boat
Lay me on the water
A gentle on the wing where I want to be
Listen to the breeze flow
Lay me on the water
And the water has come
I'll just float
And if it's rough, and high
I'll pretend that I'm a boat
Lay me on the water
Lay me on the water
Lay me on the water
Lay me on the water
Lay me on the water
Waiting for the moment to arise
I know that no man could ever fly
Just lay me on the water
Shining of the rust that I have seen
But I don't need to show them to the world
Just lay me on the water
I'll just float
And if it's rough, and high
I'll pretend that I'm a boat
Lay me on the water
I view all good citizens as one
But I don't feel like leading some campaign
Just lay me on the water
I'll just float
And if it's rough, and high
I'll pretend that I'm a boat
Lay me on the water
Listen to the breeze flow
Lay me on the water
I'll just float
And if it's rough, and high
I'll pretend that I'm a boat
Lay me on the water
Lay me on the water
Lay me on the water
Lay me on the water

Another song that I am not sure what Gavin is trying to state here. However, while listening to this song you just feel relaxed and calm. I think he is just saying just let me be calm. If I need to be I'll be rough. Make sense?
First line can just about sum it up...........He comes out and tells you that he's using water as the metaphor. He knows that men can't fly meaning he's gonna have to deal with this water somehow. He's pretending to be a boat. While being the boat, he's gonna ride upon the rough waves (hard times) and just "go with the flow" to get through it anyway he can. If his life is goin well, he's just gonna float in the water without a boat.
