I have a feeling that if I ever find myself in long distance relationship, this will be the song that rips my heart out everytime. Even more than it doed already.
These lyrics are incorrect It is "But man I feel silly in that dim light Just after doin' you by the sight of my Kodak delights" not "by the side of my coat I put out the lights" :)

Teitur constantly amazes me because of his ability to articulate exactly what situations are like.
This song is exactly what the ending of a long distance relationship feels like - it's sad, sweet, and it lingers.
JD said it perfectly... it's sad, sweet, and it definitely lingers. I can relate very personally to this song.
Though I feel like this is pretty obvious, I feel there is a little something more. The writer obviously feels like the relationship is going nowhere but is reluctant to let it go because he is still infatuated with this person who unfortunately is miles away. They have been missing out on a large part of a relationship, the physical part, but somehow the distance makes that feeling of love that much stronger. I feel like the singer is trying to communicate that the distance is getting harder and harder to put up with, but hes not ready to give up on it yet because hes so in love.

Oh, I can't get enough of this song. It's as close to perfect as a song can be, in my opinion.
This song is so beautifully done. I agree with all the other comments, but I also think it's kind of like when you're having a late night call with the one you love and you're trying to tell them something like "this is really hard, but i still love you, but maybe we should break up, BUT I really don't want to, but maybe I could just come home because I miss you so much, but we both know I cant, and I just really want to touch you and love you" and you're trying to get all of this out, but it's so hard to say in person, much less over the phone, so you let your thoughts get side tracked and after you say something like, "maybe it'd be easier if we took a break" and the other person is like "is that really what you want" and you're like "NO! Of course not I was just thinking...you know..."
basically that's what I think which is exactly what everyone else said just expanded. This song is so hauntingly beautiful though and perfectly describes a long distance relationship and rips my heart out each time.
Please please please let me go!!!! Please! I am not in love with you! Please! Go to your family! Make amends they should be your priority… we are over and why can’t you understand I don’t love you like that? Please !
