That snow, freeze my throat
It numbs my soul, eats me whole
To pick me up
That's when you know, you're free to go
You caught a jones
Makes me old before I'm old
It's all in love
Deep inside I go
In love, the less I seem to know
In love
That snow, numbs my throat
It leaves me dry, leaves me dry
Leaves me barely whole
Down to the wire, the rotten cold
You caught a cold, like so many times before
It's all in love, deep inside I go
In love, the less I seem to know
In love
In love, deep inside I go
In love...
It numbs my soul, eats me whole
To pick me up
You caught a jones
Makes me old before I'm old
Deep inside I go
In love, the less I seem to know
In love
It leaves me dry, leaves me dry
Leaves me barely whole
Down to the wire, the rotten cold
You caught a cold, like so many times before
In love, the less I seem to know
In love
In love...

I think that third like says "You caught a jones, makes me old before I'm old"
awesome song. very chilling... I think perhaps the guy is comparing love to a snow storm, and how he's getting lost in it. YEAH! lets give it up for love!
peace
For some reason when I listen to this song I think about a guy who's in love with a girl but she's only leading him on... He's trying to ignore the signs but he's "blinded by love" and when he does figures out he's hurt and cold. As the relationship continues it's darker as in less truthful or honest... One of my favorite songs of all times best to hear anytime of anyday. I agree with deadeyeduck it's very chilling but makes you crave to listen to it. AdanaC
True to the title, it is quite a bit darker than most of the uplifting Doves songs. It does sound like you caught a jones. Here's an alternate version, which I think works better. Oh, and there's a bit at the beginning which was missed in this version.
Bad snow freeze my throat And numbs my soul Eats me whole to pick me up Thats where you know Free to go You call the jones Makes me old before I'm old Its all you love Deep inside I know you love The less I seem to know you love
Bad snow numbs my throat And leaves me dry leaves me dry Leaves me barely whole Down to the wire Rock gone cold You caught a cold Like so many times before its all you love Deep inside I go you love The less I seem to know you love
Here now deep inside I go Here now
I'm just guessing, but it could have something to do with cocaine.
It sounds a lot like he's talking about drugs. "Snow," "jones," "freeze/numbs my throat," "leaves me dry..." Yeah... I think it's a song about drugs and addiction.
Wow, it's blasphemous that so little has been said about this song--this song wasn't the first Doves song I heard, but it was the song to get me into them. Anyway, definitely a song about drugs, I'm also guessing cocaine. No doubt about it.
This song is definitely referring to cocaine. Snow is another name for coke and the substance has numbing qualities.
