So tell me now, what do I have to do
To say things that will get through to you
I'll cross my fingers and I'll pray for you
To somehow see this site
Call me more convinced.
Say there's a way to cure this loneliness
With common sense
If I could be anything, I would be medication for you
And everything you've done wrong
If I could be anything, I would be one medal of honor
For you and everything that you've done right
Call me pathetic, call me what you will
Just please don't leave my side
You're so medicated,
You don't even remember my name
Or I'll bite my fingernails until it hurts no more
To dig you out
Today, a walk to forget,
I'd rather open up this casket, and jump inside
Sleep under the stars, with you tonight
I'd rather be below, than ever be without you
Your funeral can make it hard to breathe, they're few
And far between
The days are seeming shorter, these nights seem so much longer
I'm laying here when I should be there with you
To say things that will get through to you
I'll cross my fingers and I'll pray for you
To somehow see this site
Call me more convinced.
Say there's a way to cure this loneliness
With common sense
And everything you've done wrong
If I could be anything, I would be one medal of honor
For you and everything that you've done right
Just please don't leave my side
You're so medicated,
You don't even remember my name
Or I'll bite my fingernails until it hurts no more
To dig you out
I'd rather open up this casket, and jump inside
Sleep under the stars, with you tonight
I'd rather be below, than ever be without you
Your funeral can make it hard to breathe, they're few
And far between
The days are seeming shorter, these nights seem so much longer
I'm laying here when I should be there with you

Okay...I'm prettty sure the song is about Mike Hunau's grandfather when he was sick/dying and all the pain that Mike felt. I might be wrong about who it was that died but like oh doctor doctor said, it is definately about a loved one.
"The song 'Sydney' is about how, in May of 2003, my grandfather Sydney Marcus died after a battle with Parkinson disease and a related condition, dementia, which causes memory loss. For me, this was a lot different than writing about a normal death in the family, because for the last year of his, my grandfather couldn't even recognize me. So I tried to use lines such as 'You're so medicated, you don't even remember my name,' to try to put people in my shoes and show them how hard it was. So the message is, take advantage of the time you have with loved ones, because unlike these songs, they won't be around forever" ---Mike Hunau
this is my favorite song off their EP along with broken glass syndrome
woo, im the first ever person to comment on how great halifax are.. i love this song. Despite the blatant gd lyric.. lol
i think maybe it's supposed to be blatant, sort of paying homage to them.

Mind you, early november did the same thing with a get up kids, and look what happened!

Halifax is great
Seen these guys a few times and they rock, he said the song was about his grandfather..
halifax rocks my freakin socks mann!
This song is definitely about a loved one dying. It's kind of morbid, but beautiful.
My favorite Halifax song.
