Your Love Means Everything Pt. 2 (feat. Faultline)

I do not think this song is about him and a girlfriend. I think it could be meant toward anyone he loves, a family member, even a friend. Anyways, this is not what i think he meant the song to mean..this is how I take it and what it means to me...how it relates to me.

I slipped away last night Took me away from sight and the place I know.

^that is about finally forgetting burdens of everyday life, forgetting situations that you can not get out of. And not just burdens like 'oh i have too much homework' i mean burdens like taking care of an alcoholic mom while dealing with an abusive dad. I mean, heavy burdens.

All crushed upon my skin This mess I put you in and the punch I threw.

^this is about finally letting someone in, letting them know everything you deal with and then regretting it. Trying to mentally 'punch' them away that way in reality you do not have to face them about it.

It was a strange reaction for someone like you to remain on side

^thinking that whoever you told would go away when you told them to f**k off. but they didn't. They stayed with you because they knew deep down thats what you wanted.

And in a chain reaction I was down and calling for a place to hide.

^Realizing the person cared, they were like crawling, begging for some place to hide from the emotion, the horror.

I saw a broken arm Machines will all break down in the way I know.

^the broken arm represents a injury they got from you 'mentally punching' them. how it hurt but they stuck through with you.

Mended and all made clean I saw up on the screen all the stones I throw.

^When you cleaned yourself up, stopped crying and looked back at yourself. You realized how much you fought the world. How much you didnt trust anyone.

It was a strange reaction for someone like you to remain so sure

^It was surprising that through it all they stayed with you without a doubt. Without leaving for a second.

And in a chain reaction I dissolve and break and then away I crawl.

^and due to all of their love their problems seem to filter out and break through. Finally releasing every single thing in you.

Once again, this is only MY meaning to the song. It isn't what I think he wants it to mean, it is what the song means to me.

this song isn't by coldplay it's by Faultline ft. Chris Martin, gosh get it straight. Otherwise, it's a beautiful song, definately a sound that Coldplay as a band should venture into.

i think overall this song is about how much some guy screwed up, but this girl is still by his side through all his hard times and all no matter what.. so yea her love means everything to him =)

Anyway, back to the lyrics. They are gorgeous. As soon as I heard it, that first line "I slipped away last night" immediately drew me in and I was instantly in love and emotionally in sync with this song. There's something about Chris Martin's voice that can make you swoon, think about and just be completely sucked into the song.

I don't think it's about physical violence per se, I think a lot of the descriptions of injures ("broken arm", "the punch I threw") are all metaphors for someone emotionally wounding someone. And the song is kind of a confession, reflection and plea for forgiveness for the narrator, knowing that they had done something so very wrong in emotionally hurting someone they love. Just my take on the song.
