After Hours Lyrics
Watching everybody leaving
I tell myself
Looks can be deceiving
Oh I'm hoping that I'm not dead right
There's after hours afterlife
And I'm not prepared to die in style tonight
Tried to follow you out but I did not know who you'd be leading on
And you might think people don't live through being dead wrong
I guess that your parents must have raised themselves
A strictly pious daughter cause you
Move through this crowd just like parting water
Oh you dress so nice
You dress to kill
They drop like flies
But who's the funeral for?
After while
These hot hot nights
Can turn everything sour
Oh I know it's
Not hard to get
In trouble after hours
After while
These hot hot nights
Can turn everything sour
Oh I know it's
Not hard to get
In trouble after hours
I tell myself
Looks can be deceiving
Oh I'm hoping that I'm not dead right
There's after hours afterlife
And I'm not prepared to die in style tonight
And you might think people don't live through being dead wrong
I guess that your parents must have raised themselves
A strictly pious daughter cause you
Move through this crowd just like parting water
You dress to kill
They drop like flies
But who's the funeral for?
These hot hot nights
Can turn everything sour
Oh I know it's
Not hard to get
In trouble after hours
These hot hot nights
Can turn everything sour
Oh I know it's
Not hard to get
In trouble after hours

From what I remember, Alex said this song was about a time when he went to a bar or a club somewhere, and he said they wouldn't let him in because he didn't "fit in", or something. So he left, and as he left he saw this girl in this really bright, pretty dress. I don't know. I think I butchered the story. He said that instead of going home and pouting he wrote a song.
It sounds like it's a kind of insecure guy following his girl friend/friend who's a girl around as they go to various clubs or some nonsense...And the whole time he's impressed by the girl, who is not the least bit uncomfortable...he even views her as godlike "I guess that your parents must have raised themselves A strictly pious daughter 'cause you Move through this crowd just like parting water"
He's also worried that something bad might happen..cuase he's insecure and all....out of his element.. "These hot hot nights Can turn everything sour Oh I know it's Not hard to get In trouble after hours"
Great song, cool lyrics. It's too bad these guys were only ever really known for that horrible abomination that calls itself "California".
Oh! The song is called "The Hours", not "After Hours".
No, it's called "After Hours."
