Days Turn Blue To Gray Lyrics
Thou have fathered
Son and daughter
Doth begat, yet raised not bother
Paralyzed your children's lives
Wither vines of family ties
Self-destruction
Make him function
Crayons and clay
Days turn blue to gray
Days turn blue to gray
Seventeen when
Family begin
Drinking, fighting, heroin
Unquenchable addictions call
Responsible to none above all
Self-destruction
Make him function
Crayons and clay
Days turn blue to gray
Days turn blue to gray
Lest I taste
Its sweet grapes
Glass to tongue
Across it tips
Cross my lips
Swallow it down
Please
Won't you love me?
Please help me see
What did I do?
Did I hurt you?
And now that you're gone
Emptiness lives on
The guilt is all I feel
No closure
Father
Motherfucker
No closure
The strings of my heart
You pulled on endlessly
This twine is severed
In tragedy
Father
Mother Destroyer
Destroy her
[Solo: Demmel]
Your self-destruction
What made you feel alive
Your self-destruction
Of your children's
Lives
Son and daughter
Doth begat, yet raised not bother
Paralyzed your children's lives
Wither vines of family ties
Make him function

The song right here delves into the destructive impact of addiction and the subsequent disintegration of familial bonds. From the perspective of a father's son, it's about how the father, an alcoholic hooked on heroin, is ruining the lives of his kids. He takes his drug-fueled rage out on his kids; All they wonder and ask is why their father is hurting them and why he doesn't seem to love them.
no comments? this song fucking rocks! seems to be about some kind of teenage crisis...
I think this song is more about someone (maybe Flyyn) being angry at their father for being so selfish. It's just what I thought when I saw the video. There are references to drugs : "Drinking, fighting, heroin.." and it refers to drugs as the cause of someone's "Self-destruction".. Heh, I dunno, I'm an idiot.
the video for this song explains it pretty well. this song is about how a father is an achohilic or something, and hooked in heroine and stuff. its ruining the lives of his kids, sounds like he did something to his wife too. pretty much about being a shitty dad. one kickass song though! the guitars rock!
I've got nothing to say... Except:
This One fucking rules, it's nice to see Machine back to there roots, or well atleast mostly.
yes...thsi song is rather spiffing isnt it?! =D
according to the band in a metal hammer interview a couple of months back, this song is actually about robb flynn's wife being abused when she was a kid.
in the Elegies DVD, Robb says this song is about 2 of his friends from growing up
the MHsongs based on real events (like five, trephanation or left unfinished) are filled with pain and days turn blue to gray is so fucking real. It's one of my favourite songs "NO CLOSURE.."-it's true that you can't bare the memory of the abuse.
I love the whole MH n.h. thing, like that intro high riffage being played totally on n.h. so damn trademark MH and so damn CREATIVE!
