Hear me now
Bearing down upon a path we choose
Chosen from the start living different rules
Existence something to cherish true
Will not succumb to doubts that I hold onto
Release the fear of my pain
In so much pain
Give me the will to fight
Every obstacle that I have inside
Release the fear and

Hear me now
Words I vow
No fucking regrets

Fuck these chains
No god damn slave
I will be different

I'll stand here defiantly
My middle finger raised
Fuck your prejudice

All my life
Always I've felt alone
Conditioned to believe that I'm always wrong
Only truth will help to set me free
My every weakness I must turn into strength
Every rage, every tear
Hate in so much hate
Never that pain will bind me
Ask of myself if I've the will to unwind
Every rage and tear

Hear me now
Words I vow
No fucking regrets

Fuck these chains
No god damn slave
I will be different

I'll stand here defiantly
My middle finger raised
Fuck your prejudice

Carved upon my stone
I will go on
Patience, belief
Love will ascend

Just listen to it
Voice so true inside calling
To pick you up and march you on
Keep from falling
Let go your sorrow
Sun will shine, this I promise
Rising tomorrow
Rising

Hear me now
I'm taking back the control
Of my
Life from societies hold
I vow
No more will I be a slave
Rise to
Challenge the whole human race

My spirit you cannot break
When we won't lose!

I agree, I think this song is about behind told what to do and refusing and rebelling. 'I'll stand here defiantly My middle finger raised' And also about they're hatred for society?

It's about daring to fail and daring to fuck up and doing what you do best in life and that's living it to the fullest without anyone ever naysaying you

I like the way that in the CD booklet, it says [For you to sing]. Its about living life how you want to, and not being a sheep and doing what everyone else does. Thats what I think anyway.

This song to me sounds like a declaration of no longer taking shit from anyone. Whether it be the bullshit media, or people that bullied him as a kid.

"All my life, always I've felt alone, conditioned to believe that I'm always wrong".

This line sounds like he was never allowed an opinion as a kid which made him timid.

"My every weakness I must turn into strength".

This line says to me that all the bad emotion that's inside of him from the past years, he now needs to channel to strength, so he'll no longer be walked over.

So my verdict is that it's a general "fuck you, I won't take anyone's shit anymore, I'm finally standing up for myself and if anyone wants to get in my way, fuck you".

This song totally means not giving into conformity. "Fuck these chains, no god damn slave, I will be different." Nowaday you hear all the time about how society is molding young children to be directed into career paths that are good in society's eyes. Fuck that! "I'll stand her defiantly, my middle finger raised, fuck your prejudice" Totally saying that no matter how much shit that you throw at for example ME that im just gonna sit here and keep on not conforming And just like i am the eggman said You left out the clincher This is saying that through my defiance i will prosper and become greater than you could ever imagine! But thats just me E-Rock

Words do not describe how fucking amazing this song is. It's my anthem.

The meaning is pretty clear - to be yourself, resist conformity, no matter what obstacles society throws in your path.

Incidentally, "Imperium" is the order of society in ancient Rome. Gotta be the best title ever.

This song is about learning to live free, and to come at peace with all your pain and anger. Hes taking back his life and finding strength from his torment. This is by far one of the best songs machine head has written.

I believe that Machine Head have now reached that level, the level of the likes of Pantera, Slayer etc. After all what are 2 bad albums next to 4 incredible ones (IMO). Slayer had a week patch late nineties which they recovered from and Panteras Glam albums before Cowboys... well anyway.

To me this song is about exactly what everyone has said, but I get a message more of becoming greater, conquering all the obstacles and shit thrown by society (as mentioned) and becoming more positive and strong spiritually... or something like that but worded better! Whenever I am having trouble in my life, emotionally, physically, mentally, whenever there is a challenge I am trying to get through like doing heavier weightlifting, playing better guitar and drums, standing up to the scum and violence living around me, this song gives me the strength I need.

Let go your sorrow Sun will shine, this I promise Rising tommorow Rising
