Oh no, not this time, too
I'm the only one you got to use
And if I tell you all this could be nothing more
Than a way to leave you
Would you want me?
And now you're sorry
For the things you did to me
I want you to know
I feel I was the one who got used
And used to just about anything you would tell me
But those days are more than over now
Don't you say you want me to stay
Now you've got to get away
You've got to get away
Go find someone who wants you
Someone to pray to, get on your knees to
Lay down and please you, too
It just won't be me ever again
Hopeless that this will turn out better
This isn't what I wanted
I should've listened to them
Go thank yourself for nothing
It's really all you're good for
And every year you wasted
And every half-assed offer
I'm the only one you got to use
And if I tell you all this could be nothing more
Than a way to leave you
Would you want me?
For the things you did to me
I want you to know
I feel I was the one who got used

One of my favorite songs off 'the Meadowlands.' Along with the other twelve.
As a person commenting on this in 2016 (12 years after the comment above), let me just say, "Yes." The Meadowlands is still great after all these years.

when the chorus comes in, the hopeless part, my heart shudders. its amazing.
the song is about a guy who went into a relationship with a girl who treated him like shit, and he got fed up, but now the girl wants him back and he wont take it cuz hes got more pride than that; hes "hopeless that thisll turn out better." its about a guys pride.
for me, its about a guy whos questioning this girl, this girl who comes back into his life. and things once again become complicated and now he realizes that she just used him again yet he finds himself again feeling bad about her and what she did to him. i can relate to this song. its great.
^^^This guy up here is an idiot.
I guess at face value this looks like a song about a relationship, but I really don't feel like that's it at all... it's almost certainly about their departure from their "big record deal" following the shit their former label (Wind Up Records) put them through. Wind Up (formerly known as Grass) was bought out by a guy named Alan Melzter, who took the label in a very "radio rock" direction, and horribly mistreated bands who wouldn't get on board. According to band mythos, The Wrens were on tour and Europe, and Melzter faxed them a new (and glaringly unfair) contract in the dead of night. When they refused to sign it, they were immediately fired and left stranded in Europe.
Another famous legend has it that Alan Melzter was livid when The Wrens refused to sign, and swore he would make the next band through his door superstars "at any cost". Creed was the next band through his doors, and they became famous at any cost.
This song has the GREATEST build up. Like, the chorus should be written in bright red, all caps and underlined. HOPELESS!!! That's right. Find someone else to service you-- I'm done. So freakin' intense.
this song is so great... maybe cuz i love indie, maybe cuz its emo, or maybe because i'm hearing it at the right time. i guess my personal interp. would mirror what everyone else gets out of it...
getting your heart ripped out, feeling the pain, and letting it all out in a retort of anger.
the guy above is scycis on aim. if he doesn't block 'the inferior masses' from IMing him, give him a holler. he is quite elitest in the fact that he feels he owns music that is free to the world to enjoy; songs like the ones above about heartbreak, as if he may be the only one to ever have a song trigger and pinpoint the exact pain he is feeling. f* that. you keep feeling superior and i'll keep enjoying my music.
Which guy above?
