Pilgrims Lyrics
Black cat crossed our path on little fog feet
There's crows flying beside my window
We left superstition on the roadside a few cities ago
They spent our souls, maybe, but they didn't take our smiles
We listen, we shake, the radio
There's a sweet corn princess smiling through the words on the glass
Remember we stopped for tamales last time?
But now the lights from the town are fading with radio
There's another song playing, and we can hear it in the wind outside
We listen, Pilgrims
We shake, to the radio
We listen, to the radio
Little black kitty crossed our path wearing little fog feet
And the crows they're just drifters through my window
The late night city's lights are growing sharper
And I hear another song, I see it pouring from the look in your eyes
We listen,
We shake, to the radio
Pilgrims, we listen, we shake, to the radio, the radio
There's crows flying beside my window
We left superstition on the roadside a few cities ago
They spent our souls, maybe, but they didn't take our smiles
Remember we stopped for tamales last time?
But now the lights from the town are fading with radio
There's another song playing, and we can hear it in the wind outside
We shake, to the radio
We listen, to the radio
And the crows they're just drifters through my window
The late night city's lights are growing sharper
And I hear another song, I see it pouring from the look in your eyes
We shake, to the radio
Pilgrims, we listen, we shake, to the radio, the radio

This is the best song in the world!
We are all Pilgrims.
We're all on a journey, be it on the highway with an FM soundtrack, or this larger trip we all share.
If we look we can see it - we all have riders whose eyes can sing to us. Maybe a spouse or a child or a dog or a best friend. Maybe just that person you lock gazes with for a second at a Panic show.
I'm so thankful for all the hours Mikey rode shotgun in my life, and for every moment he can live on with us, shaking our souls through the radio.
Nonetheless, ever since 12/31/02 (first time I'd heard it without MH) I can't hear this song without something pouring from my eyes. Always mixed tears of joy and sadness, and always a few in there for Mikey's family, including the boys in the band and especially JB, who I've never heard refer to Mikey as anything but "my best friend".
Mikey is a Pilgrim of the Far Shores now, and this beautiful song remains to memorialize him.
Best. Song. Ever!!
This song is amazinggg. I have seen WP live wayyy too many times to count. Kinda like The Dead. This is one of my all-time favorite Panic tunes. Love the part about the black cat turning into a kitty. And I love the references to music and "shaking". Dreammmy song.
"They spent our souls, maybe, but they didn't take our smiles"
Even if they try their damndest. Don't EVER let 'em take your smile... :-)
